I guess you guys would consider me of really low character. I would intentionally not win a game next year so I could take that money and run. $10 million is plenty enough for me to live on for the rest of my life.

This is a pretty weak argument - even for you SFP.

miles' cheerleaders on here still love to talk about miles' character, and how it makes him a better coach than saban

Really? How many people truly think that Miles is a better coach than Saban? IMHO, his character makes him a better man than Saban, but not a better football coach.

is miles honorable enough to walk away from the money left on his deal if we go 6-6 or worse next year and he's fired?

The better question is LSU honorable enough to honor the contract that they agreed to with Coach Miles? If the situation plays out like you describe it, and Miles is fired after next season, I am sure that a compromise will be made and that the amount that LSU pays Les Miles will be considerably less than the remaining amount of his contract.

It makes no since at all for Miles to leave LSU without any money if he is fired. If he does that, no one will say, "Man, Coach Miles is a man of character". Instead, they will say "Damn, I told you that he was stupid".

doesn't miles understand that having to shell out that $10M or so will hurt this program? making us pay it shows low character and a want to hurt the program

Its a big boy world. In big boy world contracts matter. So NO, him honoring his end of the contract and expecting a contract to be honored are in no way a reflection of the character of either party.

so, i have this question

If you had a contract worth 16M, would you just walk away because some people don't like you.He should stick to the terms of the contract and both he an LSU should honor the agreement. Honor the contract, that is character.

...read the definition of character.

that has nothing to do with character...
you'd be asking him to make an illogical business decision.

Don't be mad at Les, be mad at TAF and the Board of Directors that approved his deal. Why don't you rant at them for keeping him. I'm sure Les is doing the best he know how to. He's keeping up his end of the bargain. If LSU is not happy with that, they have a right to terminate his contract. Why should Les have to give up money? It has nothing to do with honor.

This is in your top 10 worst post ever, and you've said some dumb shite. I'm not sure i've seen many people say Les is better coach than old money bagz saban, definitely is more of man, but not a better coach.

So go cheer for Alabama you deuchebag, you'll be a happier person.

And by the way, congrats on making it all the way to 8:30 in the morning before mentioning Saban today.

We're one broken collarbone, three yards, and one bullshite unnecessary roughness call from 12-1.

See what I did there?

I'm gonna have to disagree with ya'll on this one. It's the employer's responsibility to hire the right person. They hire the wrong guy, it falls back on them, and all of the ramifications of his employment as well(his contract.)

Have you ever thought about it like this? Les is doing his best. Every day he sets out thinking that he is doing the right things to better this program. Clearly he's not, but to him he is. So shame on him for working hard and doing what he thinks is best for our program? or shame on LSU for hiring the wrong guy?

It happens every day in every work place. You don't do your homework on the front end and hire the wrong person, you have to take the licks, not the person who is not suited for the job. You shouldn't have hired him to start off with.

Having said all of that, we agree that he needs to go.

I just linked this post to the bank.

Turns out they are exhibiting very poor character for expecting my mortgage payment.

My wife and I selected a house too small, so I really can not understand their expectation of payment. Dirty bastards, they will rot in hell.

This is totally wrong. Like it or not, Miles signed a contract with LSU worth ~$18.75 million to be paid over 5 years. If LSU fires Miles, he is then due that remainder of the money. By agreeing to the contract, Miles and LSU decided that Miles already earned the money.
