re: Absolute no.1 takeaway from LSU fall practices!

Isn't it true that the center has had trouble making snaps and connection with the quarterback? Nothing more crucial for an offense than that.

My only concern is defensive back play. LSU will always have talent, and observations of good offensive production is great. The question is can we limit big plays, pass/run block effectively on the O-line, & maintain a solid run game.

This was a problem early on in scrimmages but seems to have been corrected, have not heard of anymore bad snaps.

D-line should be stout, but we have major questions for DBs and there is little to no depth at LB.
Does the fact that the linebacker, who was leading tackler last season, is now running 2nd team, help your confidence?

This is telling. Thank the coaching staff for working hard at getting players ready to compete.

…and tackle, good grief all the shoe string tackling BS from the past 2 seasons has to be a bad memory relegated to never more

Like the spirit!
Always temper friendly fire conclusions (LSU vs LSU). If O or D are winning, O or D are losing.
Credible conclusions follow competitive opponents, not Spring games and Fall practices.

I’m not seeing these full scrimmages but I’m actually excited about linebacker. We are gonna play a lot of different sets, but I think when we go 4-2-5 we should always have 2 Good linebackers out there. They are just an overall inexperienced group. Baskerville and Mike Jones are the only guys with real experience starting, oh and also west weeks who has starting experience and is a really good depth piece. But we got some young studs that just haven’t had the experience yet Greg Penn has obviously impressed the staff as he seems to be the guy starting next to Mike Jones week 1. Harold Perkins Ofcourse is a Legit young talent but he will be learning so while I expect production he won’t be leaned upon every week. Demario tolan is young but has a lot of upside, and finally Jared small. According to staff last year he was gonna start but got hurt Ofcourse. So I mean I’m not stressing on the lineBackers. Also it helps the linebackers when there’s a great slime in front of you

Fair enough. I’m just going by the fact that the Oline was the biggest concern of Coach Kelly’s when he arrived, and was his biggest focus. An Oline made up of a bunch a transfers, a freshman and lone one Oline man Ware.
Yes. You've described the problem pretty well.

But based on most media reports, they’re athletic and are not being dominated or intimidated by the Dline.
I haven't heard too many reports. In fact, it's suspiciously quiet regarding the OL.

That’s probably a good thing, they’re not getting banged up going against a very physical Dline.

One thing we have learned from Kelly already he knows the grind of an entire season and has came out and said that he will not overwork the team in practices. Hot damn we have Head Coach that gets the WHOLE picture. Mind Blown.

So true. Those last three years with Les really taught me a lesson about letting your expectations run wild. LSU had so much talent but Les just refused to change the offense. Damn those were some frustrating times.
By the time Coach O took over I really had no expectations. I just hoped for 9 or 10 wins and a good bowl game. I didn't think LSU would win a championship with Coach O. Then 2019 happened.

If our DL is as good as billed, then I am getting a better feeling for the OL.
If our OL is progressing as hoped; they can block our DL with our talent, they can block a lot of teams.
That’s is the point I was trying to make in the OP. Daniels has expressed to the media how this LSU defense is scary to face. So my optimism regarding LSU’s Oline is obviously raised considerably.

Eerily like preseason 2000. :)

It sounds great, but I’m not sold on the ability of our secondary just yet. I’ll temper my expectations for now.

Excellent point! Kelly appears determined to have the best LSU Oline he can have starting game 1.
This is true for every coach at every level. There aren't a lot of coaches determined to have the worst offensive line possible.

Not true, every coach doesn’t put most of their focus on their Oline. Miles did, Orgeron focused more on LSU’s Dline. LSU had many missing pieces, but Kelly knew which pieces were most urgent.
