I say whether or not you wear USC gear depends on how you feel about your kids hearing foul language...there are a few pissants in every pot.
BTW, I grew up in BR and back then everyone I knew pulled for the Pac 8 (showing my age), including USC, in the Rose Bowl against the Big 10. Seems like the Big 10 always came in as the favorite and got slapped by the faster, more creative Pac 8 team. It's only the younger generation at LSU that seems to have developed a dislike for USC and the Pac 10.

Probably good advice. You'd be OK to wear USC caps, but I wouldn't flaunt a bunch of Trojans gear around Death Valley. Remember, your team is BCS #5 this week for no real obvious reason other than media bias--LSU & SEC fans are aware of this and may not respond favorably.
Otherwise, enjoy the gameday experience--very few like it anywhere in CFB.

Wear your SC gear with pride, be respectful, and enjoy the game.
The decent Tiger fans (which far outnumber the assholes) would come to your aid in a heartbeat as long as you mind your manners.

1. Don't wear USC gear. If you feel obligated, just wear a yellow/gold color so we can mistake you for an LSU fan
2. Get in the stadium AT LEAST half an hour before the game!
3. Eat at the Chimes. Get some fried alligator and gumbo!
4. Come back for a night game if you want the best Tiger Stadium experience possible

I would not worry about wearing USC garb. You might get some strange looks and a few idiot "tigerbaiters," but I think most should take it as a compliment that a fan of a team so far away is taking in a Tiger Stadium experience.
If you reply that this is your first visit and you just wanted to show that there are USC fans who also are interested in LSU, you should be treated just fine.
BTW, there is a similar thread on this page from a UCLA fan making his first DV visit.

Tiger fans might unite with bRuins in their hatred for USC, but some of them that made plans for Pasadena in 06 might still be a little pissed off:
If ucla hadn't upset USC, LSU would have been in their first Rose Bowl, and Carville might not have wanted to blow it up after all.

You don't have to wear LSU stuff to get a good reception, but you'll want to avoid advertising you are a Pac-10 fan. Especially if you have a thin skin. Ironically, you'll probably get a better overall response if you wore UGA gear rather than USC gear.

Here is the key:
Get to the campus early. No later than 9:00 am ! walk to the Parade grounds and through the quad.
Go to the area called the Indian Mounds and walk around looking thirsty. Tailgate here with Tiger fans. The Tiger band and the football teams will arrive shortly and march down the hill. You MUST not miss this.
Get into the Stadium about 40 minutes early for all the pre-game festivities. LSU pregame is highly choreographed and it's cool watching the videos and hearing all the songs...
Fight on Trojan ! Wear an LSU hat with your SC shirt.

I know Id wear my LSU gear wherever I might go and take the heat. So wear your SC gear with pride and take the "tiger baits" etc with a grain of salt..but you'll also get food and drink galore..along with an experience you will never forget. Save your ticket for posterity sake and have a great time...

People who are telling you not to wear USC gear are over-exaggerating the venom opposing fans get. Seriously, especially since you'll have kids with you, you'll just get tiger-baited but it's all in good fun.
Also, having on non-lsu colors makes you way more likely to get offered food from tailgates, but you will probably have to take some good-natured ribbing. Without USC gear on, you just look like another tiger fan. Our fans are pretty hospitable to visitors.
For a safe bet, though, I'd hit up the TigerDroppings tailgate around the parade grounds.
Since it's a day game, don't waste time at the Chimes, although i'd recommend having food there any other time (especially before a night game). Go see the players and band march down Victory Hill and definitely see Mike VI in his habitat early in the morning.
Whatever you do, be in your seat for Pregame (starts about 15-20 mins or so before kickoff)

Go to Tiger Stadium carrying a pistol and tell the first cop you see that you are the Antichrist and you will kill him.
Take two Midol and call me in the morning.

I'm not reading all of this. Don't wear USC gear and tell people USC is better then LSU basically. If it were pretty much any team but USC I would say wear your gear, but you are taking a chance with some of the morons in the lower ranks of our fan base IMO if you do with USC.
