100 year anniversity helmet? Did issue these early or did they add wrong? 100 years of alabama football would be in 1992 since they played their first game in 1892

I don't think he's even smart enough to pull of that dumb of a heist.

Found it!!!

It somehow made its way to Washington DC...

... and can be seen in the Smithsonian as part of their Transportation Exhibit.

You're welcome.

... And you know for a fact it was "stolen"?
I mean, I know 1969 was the stone age, when even I was young, but they DID have equipment managers back then.

100 year anniversity helmet?

The Helmet Project - 100 Year Logo

There is a general consensus among historians who study the sport of American football to recognize a game played November 6, 1869 between teams from Princeton and Rutgers as the "first college football game". One hundred years later, during the fall of 1969, the football teams at Princeton, Rutgers, and many other colleges commemorated this centennial by wearing on their helmets a special decal depicting the numerals "100" inside a football-shape.

Hey, Relapse, you are absolutely right. Thanks for the link. I am not holding out any hope for this helmet but it would be nice to see one. Thanks for a voice of sanity and clarity on this board, but you are waaaay too knew here. I hope you have thick skin. Duck!!

I'm amazed that The Helmet Project has only turned up 1 potential game worn helmet that had the 100 logo on it. There are a ton of schools that wore it, some for the entire season. Surely there is 1 sitting on a shelf somewhere.

For history buffs, I recommend ESPN's College Football Encyclopedia. I hope they publish somewhat regular updates to it.
