so stating his record is defending him?
some of you just don't get it. Whining like a bunch of PMS byatches ain't changing nothing in the coaching staff. That's my main point.

how dare the fanbase be so short sighted and negative to want to run a coach who is 51-15 in 5 fricking years time to fix mistakes
There's very little reason to believe that Miles is capable of fixing things to the point where we are the class of the SEC again.
Even during the 3 good years, the team was inconsistent, appeared poorly-coached, and relied on a combination of luck and superior talent to win games against mediocre opponents. Things weren't exactly rosy leading up to the 07 SECCG.
He was losing 2 games a year and only got 1 SEC title with some of the most talented teams LSU has ever had. Recruiting rankings notwithstanding, the talent of the guys that actually play at LSU right now is obviously not at the same level it was 04-07. You can play ugly and stupid and still go 6-2 in the SEC if your players are better than the other guys, but that's not the situation anymore. Now, we play ugly and stupid and are facing teams with mostly equal players and better coaches.
He's still the same coach that went 34-6 or whatever in the first 3 years. That's why we're an average SEC team now.

Cant believe it took that long for someone to blame the whole thing on the dismissal of RP. The fact that LM was smart enough to intrust the future of our program to someone who had proven himself untrustworthy doesnt give him 3 years to recover in my book.

Funny you say this...we're on the same page about Miles mismanagement and what should happen as a result of the grounding of our ship, yet I feel that the RP situation was handled appropriately (one of the few good decisions Miles has made). It was the promotion of the genius two-headed defensive dragon most comonly refered to as Mallaveto that made my head spin. It was unpardonable. Anybody with half a brain thought that it was a bad idea on every level to hire those two goofballs to run the defense (keeping in mind that the majority of members thought that it was a good decision, or, at the very least, we should see how things turn out prior to the 2008 season opener).

So do you go to a restaurant get a crap meal, crap service.....then just leave a giant tip and walk out smiling?
LSU football is a product, the fanbase/season ticket holders are their customers......they would be pretty wise to listen up or Tiger Stadium will end up like it was under Curley. And don't give me the waiting list baloney....attendance like this year against tulane will get their attention regardless of the number of people on the waiting list. If we stumble next year, can you imagine the amount of people at the McNeese game?

And the jackass is about to do the same thing this year. If Jarret Lee transfers, and Zach Lee goes pro baseball which both are real possibilities, we will be left with JJ, Chris Garret, and some walk-ons. Then people in 3 years can blame the horrible qb play on Lee playing pro baseball.

I agree, I also agree RP had to go. My beef is that it took so long to happen and cost us recruits. I believe in second chances, but that was too many. Correct me if Im wrong, but LM didnt boot him. From my understanding, he failed a drug test and the University dismissed him.

Either way, I cant see any other top tier program in the country loosing two years over one player.

quote:Completely agree. Former BOS president, Charlie Weems, who is as close to the program as you can get emailed me after the Ole Miss game and said "LSU deserved better than what we saw yesterday."
Believe me, the people that matter (i.e. the people that donate shitloads of money to TAF) share the sentiments of the majority of posters on this board (Miles should go) and are communicating that message to TAF and atheltic department leadership
The LSU administration is AT LEAST aware of the problems with Les and their "concerns" with Les are being discussed by the higher ups. Below is another email Charlie Weems sent me after the Ole Miss game when I asked about the possibility of replacing Miles. This email is pretty good insight into what the BOS and LSU admins were thinking at that point. It may be even worse now after the bowl, but it is apparent that they are at least concerned but taking it slowly and cautiously.
FROM CHARLIE WEEMS:
"thanks for your email. I am as sick this morning as you are, and as all Tiger fans are. I'm trying to take a deep breath, let a couple of days pass, and watch to see how our kids react and play against Arkansas. As you know LSU has a huge investment in Les Miles, who did lead us to a national championship, so it needs to be thoughtful about making such momentous decisions. Believe me I am very concerned about the same things you are, and our administration is similarly concerned. There are so many factors involved with making changes - especially abrupt changes - that we need to be cautious and make sure we know as much as we can before taking a course of action that can itself have far more negative consequences than poor game management in Oxford. I don't have a direct say in such matters, but I think we have to let the season play out and see what our alternatives are. Perhaps there are ways for Les to solve game management issues without us throwing away the great good that he has done in his tenure. We've learned more times than one that stability is a good thing in a football program, and for that reason alone I think we need to go slow. But I couldn't sleep last night and my heart hurts this morning.
Thanks again for writing and I will certainly let the powers that be know of your feelings and those of many others I have heard from last night and this morning.
CSW"

anyone else get a response from the last go around of emails after the Penn State game?

you consider year 6 of a coach running the type of program he inherited to be the key year?

I thought Less booted him. That said, if I'm wrong, then I take back the part of my previous post that praised Miles handling of the RP situation...and you would be correct, the entire RP ordeal from start to finish would have been, and is, an epic fail.
Posted on 1/4/10 at 2:29 pm to geaux99
I believe Les called for the random drug test to see if RP was playing it straight with Les and LSU...
He failed the test, and Les and LSU had to cut ties..it was a conditional "2nd chance"

year 6
huh?
08-09 have been down years.
I love the revisionist history that prevails on some.
If you think 11-2, 11-2 and 12-2 seasons were unacceptable than good luck EVER being happy

I'm simply saying we're in year 6 under him and we're seeing the way he develops his talent and it isn't looking good.

It's not that 2005-07 weren't good years, it's that they hinted at 08-09. If you were shocked by the way LSU played in 08-09 then you weren't paying attention 05-07.
And 2010 should be looked at as year 6, b/c it is. Les Miles took over LSU in 2005 and if he doesn't win next year, that will be 1 SEC title in 6 years.

So your pathetic response for keeping him would be because he is 51-15 with half of those wins coming against the like of ULL, Troy, and Tulane.
i hate when people come back with this.
all teams get those wins. but for some reason in your eyes only LSU got wins like that.
i agree with danfraz. next year is the year. you can't get rid of a coach with that type of record.
i am still disgusted with the bowl game just like pretty much everyone here. teams and coaches have struggles its how they deal with/fix them that matters.
if things are not better next year then it is time to move on.

Dude while the majority of the board is already busting your Lesticles, noone never said that they were never happy, but dropping into mediocrity is ridiculous. Your quick to defend Miles with his record but the last time I checked we were never rewarded with a NC trophy for just beating the cupcakes on our OOC schedule.
