Molly Yanity
mollyyanity@seattlepi.com
Molly Yanity took over the Washington Huskies football beat when Tyrone Willingham was hired in December 2004. She is currently looking to go at least .500 and earn a fifth season.
When the Huskies program was in the hands of Keith Gilbertson and Rick Neuheisel, Yanity was covering high school sports, Huskies women's basketball and Washington State football for the P-I, while filling in on everything from Mariners games to marathons.
Prior to joining the P-I in 2000, Yanity had worked at ESPN Internet Ventures editing WNBA.com and NBA.com. She also covered sports by the beach (at the Daily Pilot in Costa Mesa, Calif.) and in the desert (at the Imperial Valley Press in El Centro, Calif.)
Yanity attended Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego and still calls her journalism professor, Dr. Dean Nelson, her inspiration.
Before making the trek across the country to college, Yanity grew up in Athens, Ohio. Her grandfather was a football official in the Mid-American and Big Ten Conferences and she traveled the Midwest to watch him officiate. He also took her to Pittsburgh and Florida to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was on those trips where she learned to love being around sports and decided she wanted to be a sports writer.
A life-long Steelers fan, Yanity's career highlight was covering Super Bowl XL. (Sorry, Seahawks fans.)
When she's not working on earning that fifth year, she enjoys reading, cooking, playing softball and spending time with her partner, miniature dashchund and friends -- especially at Jabu's Pub in Queen Anne.

I just emailed Jon Wilner and gave him a piece of my LSU mind.

Kirk Bohls from the Austin American Statesman is a has LSU at 11 - What a piece of shite! This is another example of why I hate preseason and early polls!

Why the AP should not get votes....
Check out Jon Wilner San Jose (Calif.) Poll
I noticed the same thing. Seriously, this guy could be randomly pulling team names out of a hat and voting for them...same effect.
What a fookin waste of a voting privilege

Chris Fowler put us at 6. ESPN has a man crush on the Tigers.
Fowler and Herbie are obligated to rank the SEC teams high, it's part of the mandate from management who inked the new ESPN-SEC business partnership.
