Tyler Hanover is going to be a lot of fun to watch. According to his bio, it seems like he may contribute some this season. He'll push Schimpf, no doubt, at second. If Mahtook doesn't fair well, look for Schimpf to go to the OF and Hanover to take 2nd.

I got schimpf leading off, I know he was a great nine hole hitter last year but the guy just gets on. You need to give him that extra at-bat in the ball game.

Schimpf 2b
Mitchell LF (if it aint broke)
Dean DH
Gibbs C
LeMahieu SS(best at hitting to all fields, tempting not to put second- but you need him here)
Landry CF- (Good bunter, speed, will advance D.J. a ton)
Helenihi 3B- (will drive runs in bc hits a ton of ground balls that find holes/hits up the middle)
Ochinko 1B
Mahtook RF- don't know much about the kid, a solid prospect I hear so we shall see what happens with him.

Pitching staff-

Friday- Ranaudo
Sat.- Ross
Sunday- Bradshaw ( if coleman isn't needed the first two days, you use Louie exactly how you used Bradford last year)

Also- This guy Chris Matulis looks like he could contribute this season, big kid. Jordan Brown will also play a role once again. Deep bullpen

Tyler Hanover

Heard he had a great fall. Will make a push for third. He is supposed to be ahead of most Freshman. If he doesn't play third he will contribute somehow. Heard he can flat out hit. Also heard Nola has continued to improve and could get some play time.

Helenihi played great at 3B last year when he took over for Hollander for a few games. If he can get his swing back like it was in the early part of last season, he'd be a defensive rock and a good bat.

That's the question. He was anything but a good bat coming down the stretch last year. He struck out a TON.

Chad jones was a 13th round pick

Didn't Mahtook make it clear he was going to LSU? I'm sure that's why he was picked that late, no team wanted to lose an early round pick on someone who would probably go to college.

The same happened with Mitchell and Jones. Mitchell said he wanted to play football at LSU and Jones wanted alot of Money. Been told they could have gone real early out of high school. Not saying 1st round but earlier than they did.

Schimpf is your second baseman. He and Lemahieu and too good together. Hanover will come along. His time will be next year. He'll contribute some this year. Schimpf is smooth and a great hitter with great underrated speed.

If Helenihi stays in RF, that pretty much means Hanover will start at the 3B. But, if he moves to 3B (which I think he is) then Mahtook and Dishon will battle for the RF position.

Isn't it great to have enough depth where talented players are "battling" for playing time!?

Yes he's still on the team. We couldn't get rid of him IMO. Not only is a good player who gives a lot of effort I think it's nice we're keeping the Pontiffs as close as possible to LSU baseball.

He came off the bench and made some clutch plays for us last season.

He is still listed on the active roster. I hope he stays , I think he'll be a senior this year. He always seems to provide a spark when called on.

I believe you will see Landry in center and Mitchell in right with Dean in left.Mahtook dropped several balls in the outfield this fall showing his inexperience plus we are loaded with seasoned players. I also think Gaudet will DH this year with Ochinko at 1st Base and splitting time at catcher.Coach Manieri will have his draft eligble studs where they will be seen this year.

Yeah...the new guy has some serious comp in front of him. Maybe by April - May, he'll be ready to go.

I just think Mitch strikes out way to much for a 2-hole hitter, so I think he would be a better fit at 5 or 6 b/c his does have some pop in his bat to drive in runs.

I think DJ is an IDEAL 2-hole hitter

I definitely wish Mitchell could hit, having tools is one thing producing is another.
