Here's a guy who knows he's always right about everything; so, the OP better listen to him.
And, now, after having read his comments, I will no longer enjoy Ruth's Chris Steak House in Baton Rouge. I'll ignore the fact that some of the best steaks I've ever had have been procured there. Instead, I'll fixate on the low ceiling.

Sorry to burst your bubble but it’s a chain. The BR location is on the bottom tier out of all of their locations. (Atmosphere wise)

See if Scotlandville has a home game Friday night and go to that. Then after see what everyone is up to and follow them.

This is clown advice.
It is bad advice, but we also enjoy DS. We camp at the KOA for games and always enjoy ourselves

Will be a good one. Don’t plan too much. Walk around.

I’m an out of stater, but spent many days and evenings on campus tailgating.
Friday I’d go cruise around campus just to see the calm before the storm. Maybe check out Mikes cage if you can. Grab dinner and drinks at Chimes. As mentioned, Friday will be easier than Sunday. My dad and uncle went to Ivars every Friday when I was a kid in town for a game, so now I do the same. It used to be a dive, last I went it was shoulder to shoulder on a Friday, but always a good spot.
If it’s a night game, maybe grab an early lunch at Sammy’s and then get to campus at 1 or so. If it’s a day game, skip lunch and get to campus early. Tell people your story. Have heard LSU is great. Want to experience it. All that. People will welcome you in. My favorite walk has always been from Northgate to the Parade Grounds through the Quad. Near the Indian Mounds and up to the stadium. You could probably spend all day hitting tailgates there. Never done much on the south side. Watch the band. Get in for calling Baton Rouge and the Tiger bad. Enjoy the game.
After hit Chimes or Walk Ons. Few drinks to let traffic die and watch remaining games. If a night game, Sunday will hurt.
Sunday, if you have a late flight, grab Ronnie’s doughnuts for breakfast and go drink Bloddy Mary’s at Parrains.

In all honesty, you’ll get more out of just walking around LSU’s campus on Saturday.
Those places people mentioned (chimes, walk-ons, etc.) are great, but it’s waiting in long lines for an in bar/restaurant experience you can get any time you’re in town.
Grab a portable cooler, several beers, and a flask full of bourbon and walk around campus and take in the sights.
Wear your vols orange and you’ll get treated right. Plenty of people will “Tiger Bait” you (which is part of the experience), but plenty will invite you into their tailgates and will offer you free food and maybe even free booze (depends on how cool your group is).
Don’t be a dick and have a great time. LSU and TS is one of the best experiences in college football. You’ll enjoy your day for sure.
Looking forward to kicking that volunteer arse, lol, but in all seriousness enjoy your time here baw!

Absolutely. What year did you go to Knoxville?

Baton Rouge Ruth Chris' is actually one of, if not the, model stores for all of Ruth Chris' franchises. You're an idiot.

Brain don't fail me now...I think it was 1989. Was the weekend before classes started. Me and a buddy were driving back from DC to Nola. Diverted to Knoxville on the way for a night. Got so pickled neither of us stayed in the hotel room. We got split up at one of the bars. Next morning we compared notes and it turned out we were both taken in by locals letting us pass out in their apartments. Fun times.
Back to the subject, Parrains is a good suggestion for Friday. Owned by the same people as Chimes so mostly the same menu of really good food without being across the street from campus.
Hard to plan not knowing the kickoff. Taking my wife to this game which will be her 2nd home game. Have reservation for Louisiana Lagniappe Friday night. Haven't been before. I don't get back to BR often enough.
Hoping both teams are undefeated for this game!

Friday night food...Gino's or Mansurs..both are close to your hotel.

friday- drive around campus and get the lay of the land. eat at parrains, phils, ginos or one of the other good restaraunts close to your hotel.
saturday- get dropped off on southside of campus, grab a drink at walkons or get rolling cooler as others mentioned and walk around.
after game walk south and get a drank and wait for traffic to clear- plenty of options
louies is not worth it. i have eaten there a million times. its good when you've been out all night and need some food at 3 am.
ruths is really good but why go to a steakhouse? eat some local places and get the BR experience
chimes is awesome- my name is on the wall twice for going around the world but its a mess on gameday.
i like going to sammy's on highland for gameday lunch before going to campus.
there are a million options- lots of good advice on this thread so far.

I want to experience all the good food
Your hotel off College Drive has some great restaurants. You can walk to Dragos for the famous chargrilled oysters, but that’s more of a New Orleans experience. As someone else stated, go to Parrains: it will be hoping and it’s a very Baton Rouge experience. Great food and fun atmosphere.

Bring creole mustard rather than the standard yellow.

I will never forget the 2000 game when Tennessee came. I was about 14 just watched us get beat by UAB the previous week. Everytime we chanted tigerbait to the them they would chant blazer bait to us. That game along with 2003 UGA was two of the loudest games I attended.

I’ve stayed at the Embassy Suites, and usually park at a prepaid lot (offered by a church or other organization) off Dalrymple. Cost is usually $20-25. I sometimes park in a lot next to the old Acacia Frat house which is free. It’s on the other side of campus but the walk is enjoyable because you’ll see the beautiful campus and pass through the tailgating scene the entire way. Not too bad cutting through the back way to the hotel after the game. You’ll see the traffic stream. I’d say 20 minutes to get ti a park off Dalrymple and 30-40 minutes getting back to hotel.

I appreciate all the responses! I’ve jotted down some restaurants for lunch and dinner Friday but Saturday if fans are as welcoming as y’all say say I’ll probably head to the store, get a cooler and some beer and tailgate hop.
I’ll check back in closer to game time as well!

We are staying at an Embassy on constitution Avenue. Looks to be about a ten minute drive to the stadium. I planned to Uber over closer to campus the morning of the game.
Getting to campus won't be too bad if you leave early enough in the morning. You're going to have a hell of a time trying to get back without a vehicle.

Baton Rouge Ruth’s Chris is absolutely fricking delicious and best steak you’ll eat. The idiot saying otherwise is just trying to sound cool by being counter culture.
