Okay so OSU will get +2 wins for their opponets and +2 losses. The thing to look at is K-State and OU will remain highly ranked which will look good on paper for them.

Alabama should be able to lock the computers in a tie for this week.

If they couldn't do it last week when OSU lost then I don't think they can with OSU at home. Their best chance was to move up in the computers with the loss.

Voters have proven they have no problem moving teams around for the last vote to get the NC game they want. The votes this week mean nothing.

Argument sustained.

They were also looking at how dominant FL was after the Auburn loss.

This year, they DO want a rematch. Little different feel in the college football environment.

This may have been discussed already but:

If LSU and Bama win this weekend.

LSU then loses to Georgia

Does that make the rematch impossible because of the only two teams in BCS bowl rules? Or does UGA get shafted? Or does it allow for three teams since SEC champ is automatic and top 2 are automatic?

Like I said, given that there are 4 million threads on this, it has likely already been answered but, the search couldn't find the answer and I don't want to start yet another thread on the matter.

ETA:

I found the thread where lsumatt discussed THIS.

Thanks for your patience.

go back and read articles from 2006. It sounded almost identical. People were immediately saying that OSU and Michigan were the undisputed two best teams in the country. And, they were clamoring over the possibility of a rematch. Time changes things.

And, watching LSU win the SECCG while OSU is beating OU and Bama is sitting at home will change people's perception again.

There is a clause that allows 3 teams in the BCS if #1 and #2 are nonchampions of the conference, yet play for the title.

OSU doesn't need to get everyone on their side. They have the computers. They just need a little help from the humans and a VaTech loss.

I agree with this, but the media pumped it hard. Currently it seems like they like the idea of a rematch.

That could definitely change if Okie St stomps OU. It will certainly be the talk of the whole game while Bama sits confidently at home.

Agreed. If LSU had beaten them with a score like Moo State, the appetite wouldn't be there. With a FG loss in OT and everybody else crapping themselves, Bama has become acceptable to the national media.

Even they don't vote in those polls, their influence is undeniable.

Couple pages back, but this is wrong is it not? Any 4th place votes OSU gets would just increase the number of 2nd place votes they need (maybe just by 1 if the votes count down 25 24 23 etc?)

Yeah, I don't know who said that, but it isn't even close to being right.

What would be lovely would be for the Barners to beat the Gumps.

Possible...but I'd say it's very unlikely. Auburn really is not a good football team this year.

They have little chance, but so did Iowa State.

Very true.
Iowa State was fired up. Auburn would have to play balls to the wall and Bama would have to come out flat like OKstate did. I'll be pulling for the barners.

I don't buy this at all. I'm sure in Alabama people want a rematch, but go look at many of the national articles after the LSU/BAMA game. Many of the headlines something to the effect of "Game of the Century?" or "If this was a preview of the National Champion game, then no thanks on a rematch." Hell, I remember reading some national writers saying that LSU/BAMA wasn't even the game of the week (OSU/KSU was). You can easily get the feeling that the rest of the country is sick of SEC-SEC-SEC!

Yea, what I was trying to say is if they have the number of 2nd place votes mentioned, but one of the third place votes becomes a 4th place vote, then their score drops below Bama. They can make up any lower seed votes with additional higher seed votes. I was just highlighting how slim of a margin OSU would be up.

True. But not quite the same feel. The main reason people didn't want a rematch then is because we still didn't know how good those teams really were (outside the Big 10). There was skepticism about the value of their schedules. Turns out it was right. TOSU was blown out by FL, Michigan was blown out by USCw.

Having said that, do you really think Alabama or LSU would be blown out by anyone? Alabama and LSU 2011 are not the same as those 2 teams in 2006. We KNOW they are as good as advertised.

Really very different.
