guess you haven't been to a game yet, no more passouts, they rescan your ticket
there is something that deals with whether the university owns it or not, I don't know what it is, but in suites at tiger stadium and the suites at the box all have alcohol, I know this for the box because they have a sign that says "no alcohol beyond this point" as your walking towards the stairs going down to the concourse, so common sense says they serve alcohol in the suites

The decision to sell alcohol at sporting events is at each university's discretion, Dunlap said. Mark Kraner, director of Contracted Auxiliary Services, said the NCAA has no say in which colleges can serve alcohol at athletic events.
quote:
Dunlap said the Southeastern Confer ence, like the NCAA, does not have a say in the decision. "We don't tell schools they can't sell it at their venues, but we don't sell it at SEC events like the championship game," Dunlap said. Many SEC schools have followed this trend by banning the sale of alcohol.

Cherrey said alcohol is also sold by private vendors at other Tulane athletic events such as baseball games.

so you can pay for overpriced beer at ull or you can buy your beer in advance and drink it in the box.
the decision is clear.

Alcohol CANNOT be served at ANY NCAA sporting event if it is on campus. Here in Orlando you could drink at UCF games when they were being held in the Citrus Bowl and now cannot since the stadium is on campus. Its an NCAA rule, not a sec rule or public/private school issue although the conferences or schools can go beyond that if they want.
WRONG! UCF is a CUSA school just as Tulane is, we sell beer at all on campus games. The NCAA rule is for regionals, supers, etc. When we have hosted regionals beer was prohibited. LSU does not sell beer at games due to the SEC rule.

Beer is the only way Tulane can attract anyone to attend their games.

I always thought that was a stupid rule since they allow for alcohol advertising on television during games.

So far we've determine that alcohol can be sold at SEC, NCAA, and private university events.
We've also determined that alcohol is prohibited from all NCAA, SEC, and private university events.
Am I missing anything?

read all post before you respond, it is not a sec rule, lsu could sell alcohol if they wanted to, lsu chooses to forbid it, it is not a NCAA rule, lsu could sell alcohol if they wanted to, lsu chooses to forbid it

wow, I can't believe some of the comments people are leaving here, it seems like the old beer at SEC games rule is brought up at least 3 times a year, how does anyone not know the rule by now?

It's an SEC rule, not an NCAA rule.
