Jones' last pass on that video shows you what you need to know about the advantage of arm-strength. Moving weak side and without squaring up...the ball comes out like a bullet and right on target. Compare that to a QB like Danny Wuerffel and you might see the same result (TD) but you wouldn't see the same pass. You would see DB's closing and hands close to the ball path. JR could also throw against his body because he also had a cannon.
Who had the strongest arm is the better question. I watched JR and he had one of the strongest arms I've ever seen in person. Never saw Jones throw but you can Google "Strongest Arms in NFL History" and he will be on that list. That's the list of all of the best college QB's who made it to the NFL and are being ranked for...arm strength. Bert Jones vs John Elway??

uh, somebody is forgetting about the final play of the game, and the 2 sacks taken on the final drive
What QB throws the ball to the 6 yard line and prays is WR fights his way into the EZ with :00 on the clock? That throw had to get into the EZ, and it didn't!!

If Tommy Hodson would have had Russell's arm strength, he would have been a NFL Hall of Famer.

So what? I've certainly seen you argue facts presented in a thread by someone other than the OP.
I responded to Tiger ree after he responded to someone other than the OP.

So.... how many more games would he have won at LSU?????

WTF
During the draft that year NFL scouts were leaking what Jimbo was saying about Russell. Specifically that he didn't put in the time watching film and working on improving his already above average skills.
Russell's bigggest downfall, IMHO, was being unlucky enough to get drafted by Kiffin and Al Davis during that time period, and not being signed right away.

He would have held out no matter who drafted him... Russell was ALzlsboit the money....

I drove from ATL to Auburn to see Jimbo & Miles try to run JV up the middle all game.

Lol the same Flynn who had a less than 60% completion percentage, had almost twice the ints, less TDs , the same number of losses to 2 unranked teams at home.
If Katrina doesn't happen JR goes undefeated in 05 and the 06 auburn loss was all on Miles
My all time qb rating is
Jones
JR
Hodson
Davey
Mettenberger/Flynn

Cam could have developed either one of them into a bottom 5 QB, with horrible stats.

And ...he got half of his yards in 4th quarter zipping it to D Bowe in triple coverage!
Nope. Les benched jmarc in every blow out for Flynn. I actually got pissy about it. I knew we had the best QB, not Brady Quinn. If Les and Jimbo let him sling it around in the 4th against scrubs like every QB that wins accolades does, he would have a broke every LSU
record.
He actually did the same with mett. A few games in 13 he had like 2-3 pass attempts in the 2nd half.

I didn't mean you, sonuvapitcher, but several other posters turned it into a JR bashing session.

I'm not sure what season you were watching, but Flynn only had like 20 pass atts for the entire year?
And didn't throw a pass after the midway point in the schedule

Stop it please, we lost to Arkansas and Kentucky that year, and luckily backed our way into the championship game. Flynn was not the reason that team was succesful.

LOL. Miles wouldn't even have one ring if it weren't for Ryan Perrilloux.

Jones was the man on and off the field...
JaMarcus made a bunch of guaranteed money and played little...what a wasted talent
