For someone who is a DH, even if his signing bonus was less next year don't you think it would be worth it for him to earn his degree and be able to work after his baseball career? especially cause it is hard to get all the way to the show as a DH?

Scouts grade players on a 2-8 scale.
That was talked about in length before the draft on TV. Harold Reynolds and the Assistant to the GM of the Rangers.
2 being not good enough to be a pro
8 being hall of fame projectability

Dean had calls wanting him in the 5th round but the money wasn't right.

There's no point for Dean to come back! He loses all his leverage
Everyone keeps saying this but the funny thing is that kids come back every year. To say there's no reason for him to come back is simply not true. Kids return every year -- for some reason.

Dean should come back, if he has more protection from another power hitter in the lineup, his numbers would be even better.

A degree to fall back on would be nice.

you are right, there's no way he can come back and get that if he leaves now

He losses all of his negotiation leverage if he comes back. Hopefully he does, but his signing bonus will be more this year unless he skyrockets up next year.
He's not going to be paid all that much this year though. He's not risking that much.

To be 1 of only a handful of Tigers to have back to back National Championships.

I hope he comes back.....he needs a little more experience

The reason he should come back is b/c it will allow him to play baseball another year. Dean isn't a major league baseball player. He will be in the minors a few years and end up getting a job just like so many others. He doesn't have that much bargining power now. He's a DH that hasn't shown he can play in the field. Coming back another yr and proving he can play in the field will do nothing but help his chances of making it to the big leagues.
