Crazy idea - maybe the defense didn't play well, but also maybe Texas has a really damn good offense. Perhaps the best or 2nd best we'll face all year.
To my knowledge, no one has ever said Aranda is infallible. I'm guessing he and the rest of the defensive staff and Coach O himself know perfectly well that the D needs to tighten up if we want to beat Bama and legitimately challenge for a playoff spot.
I can't honestly say I'm worried about the defense at this point. Aranda and the rest of the staff take pride in their work and will get things straight. He's got too good of a track record to start trashing him for one bad game.

The heat and lack of hydration was a big factor in this game. The defense seemed to me to really tighten up and get pressure at the end of the first half, but just seemed gassed after the long Tex drive. Also the Longhorns are just plain good, and might be capable of winning out till the championship. Just my humble opinion.

Their players were more physical than ours. They broke tackles with relative ease.
I don't think there's a whole lot to blame here. I really think our guys just underestimated the physicality of the longhorns.
And that shouldn't have been allowed to happen. UT's OL, people can keep talking about the holding, but those guys were full on until the whistle blew, and then some. LSU OL might want to adopt a stouter attitude. The second time Duvernay blew through Delpit, some weak efforts in the secondary regarding tackling, and LBs missing tackles, how long is that allowed in-game? The D puts up 2 goal line stops, and then what happened into the 2nd half. I'm not down on Aranda, but the physicality on the field needs improvement in areas.

Quit acting like he is infallible. The guy's defense just gave up over 500 yards to UT lol. 500 yards. Let that sink in. Sitting here trying to say he is the best DC in the nation is silly. You have the wrong tiger team for that.
You stupid fricking bastard.
Brent Venables (also considered to be one of the top DCs in the league) gave up 501 yards and 26 points to A&M, gave up 21 points to Georgia Tech, 35 points and 600 yards to South Carolina, (SOUTH frickING CAROLINA!), last year then went on to hold the mighty Alabama to 16 point, with their offense that everyone was saying was the best offense ever.
No defense will stop everyone. Just like no offense will put up huge numbers against everyone. That’s why you need a balance of the two.

It did exactly what it was supposed to do. Take away his biggest threat. Unfortunately, he had a hell of a night throwing the ball, and our DBs did not have their best game (or 2nd half anyway, as the defense did great in the first half).
Yeah I'm not sure the gameplan did exactly what it was supposed to do. Over 500 yards, 38 points and allowing them to score on every drive (31 points) in the 2nd half is not what Aranda planned.
Aranda is smart guy. He'll be fine and the D will do better.
