Who cares, most were in that era. Juice should be allowed anyway.

In fact, the LSU team that hit EIGHT HRs in the first game vs. USC did not hit a single one in the two subsequent losses.
We definitely still hit a few but nothing like the first two games. Dalton lined one out opposite field in the first inning off of Etherton and it looked like it was going to be a replay of game 1 as Etherton had given up most of those 8.

Those first couple games was actually when the gorilla ball phrase was coined. In the pre tournament press conference Jim Morris said he looked at the gorillas Skip had, referring back to the 96 game, and decided he had to do something different. Then the 8 HR game happened and it stuck.

Larson is still my favorite LSU baseball player. He did some really good things for Cincinnati early on, but injuries took their toll.

Had classes with him. Shows up in cowboy boots, hat the whole nine yards. It’s hot as hell, dude didn’t care. He hit a ton, pretty decent guy. He did say he’d be the best ever. He backed up the smack talk. Always thought he’d kill it with the reds.

the bat was juiced - and the ball was juiced

I hear this all the time about those 90's LSU teams and people forget how strong and how well those teams hit the ball. Go back and look every LSU player back then looked almost like a line backer. Tall and very powerful. Those teams with wooden bats would still be jacking the ball all over the field. Those were just pretty damn good teams.

yes they did...most people forget i tore my ankle and knee up right after LSU...missed a year..had to hit my way back to the big leagues but playing on one knee and bum ankle with those schedules eventually catches up..could always hit but everyone wants the young shiny corvette..not the used up ole firebird

it felt like it for sure....i was locked in that year...wanted to keep my job and the best thing about SKip was he always challenged you to be better than you were the night before ...not just for yourself, but more importantly the fans...he would always tell us..."someone may be watching you tonight that has never seen you play, what are you going to do for that person to remember you"....I always played that way
