in 04 we saw 7 out of the 8 teams play in 4 days (LSU was 2 n out)..walked up to the stadium that Friday, bought GA tickets for $8/piece.
Non-LSU game days we went to both games, didn't wait in line and found seats relatively easy.

can you find reserve seats out there, and if so, how much?

me and a friend of mine are also doing the tent thing. we plan on getting as close to the stadium as we can and keeping clean buy using hotel pools and bathrooms. were broke.

Josh - the best thing to do is go to Rosenblatt first thing in the morning on days that LSU plays and upgrade your GA tickets to reserved tickets. It's really cheap to do so.
You should go get in line an hour or so before the ticket office opens, though. That's what we have always done and it is much more convenient IMO than sitting in the GA line all day. Since we are not on the same side of the bracket as any of the big traveling fanbases (i.e., Texas), the line for upgrades in the morning will pretty much be all LSU fans with a sprinkle of Arky fans.

Upgrading General Admission Tickets
Based on availability of reserved seats, GA tickets may be upgraded to reserved seats by paying the difference in price between a reserved and GA ticket. Upgrades are available only at the Rosenblatt box office and go on sale at 10am for that day of games only (if there is a 6pm game only, the box office will open at noon) and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. When upgrading general admission tickets to reserved tickets, the limit is six tickets for qualifying games and four for Finals games.

Someone mentioned this Lake Manawa State Park for camping in another post. Looks like a great deal if there are still available campsites.

JP, if you udgrade to reserved tickets, how likely is it to get 4-5 together??
Posted on 6/9/09 at 3:39 pm to Lester Earl
I would say your odds are pretty good if not close to certain that you'll be able to get tickets all together as long as you are towards the front of that ticket office line. We've never had a problem getting 3-4 together. We usually try to get over to Rosenblatt an hour or sometimes even two hours before the ticket office opens, though, so we've always been towards the front of the line (the first day we'll probably try to get over there between 7am and 8am just to gauge things out).
I much prefer to stand in the ticket office line in the morning and have guaranteed seats and then have the rest of the day to do whatever we please than to get out there and stand in that long-arse GA line all day and just be stuck waiting.

what's the price comparison on ga tickets to reserved?
Posted on 6/9/09 at 3:51 pm to josh336
This is from 2006. I think the price may have gone up a dollar or two, but not much.
quote:
General admission tickets may be used for any game as long as the holder arrives early enough to be admitted, or may be upgraded to reserved seats at Rosenblatt Stadium’s box office the day of the game under the following guidelines:
-Pay the $9 difference in price between the general admission ticket (which costs $9 at the Rosenblatt Stadium box office) and reserved ticket ($18).
-General admission tickets may be upgraded starting at 10 a.m. on the day of the game.
-For championship games, pay the $16 difference in price between the general admission ticket (valued at $9) and reserved ticket ($25).
“Approximately 1,000 reserved seat tickets are held for each game at Rosenblatt Stadium box office throughout the Series, so chances are good that people can upgrade their general admission tickets if they get there early,” Hames said. “Reserved seat tickets become available as unused team tickets are released for sale each game day starting at 10 a.m.”

also a good thing about that ticket office line in the morning is you can park really close so it's a lot easier to haul a cooler and/or chairs/etc over to the line while you wait for the ticket office to open.
One of the problems with the GA line before the game is where to put all your tailgate stuff.

Me and friend did this exact thing in 2004. We pitched a tent at the KOA campground about 15 miles from Rosenblatt. It was like $17/night and the bathroom facilities were nice.
when i looked yesterday, all the tent sites at the KOA were sold out
