no one wanted to replace Miles with Orgeron. They wanted to fire Miles, which needed to happen. They wanted LSU to make a homerun hire, and Alleva wasn't able to deliver.

Judging from his posts, the o drums aren't the only thing he beating.

IMHO,
as Canada climbed to better schools, his offense was less and less effective....started facing better coaches.
I remember Bo Pelini, sorta the same thing, his D was GREAT the first year, good the second and then the SEC coaches came up with game plans and he was no longer effective, neither at LSU or Nebraska....btw I liked Bo, not a bad coach, just not as great as perceived.

I think Alleva thought he did fwiw. All of this ultimately falls on Alleva and F King. They fricked up what should have been a smooth transition at the end of 2015. Going through all of that only to let Les stay and then fire him 4 games in to 2016 was a recipe for disaster.

I guess Canada's god awful scheme against MSU was on O too right? I would have stepped in too after the biggest loss to MSU...in the history of the program.
That was all on Canada yet you guys bash O for it.
I thought that one was on Miles for allowing the lines to go to shite?? The only thing certain is that it had no reflection on O whatsoever
And I thought after outgaining Bama Canada’s scheme was working and Etling just sucked and couldn’t hit wide open receivers but the mood was when we get a decent QB WE COMIN!!!
But now Canada fricking sucks and it was a miracle Orgeron held the team together despite this horrible cancer destroying the team from the press box

We're talking about SpaceClownboy. Yes he most certainly can be that dense. This is a guy who claims that o's tenure at Ole Miss wasn't as bad as people on the rant are making it out to be and that he was unjustly fired after his third year with the Rebels or whatever the frick they call themselves these days.
The man went 3-21 in conference play in his three years there and 0-8 in SEC play in year three. I suppose SpaceClownboy thinks he should have been given a fat raise and a contract extension after those productive seasons.
All valid points.

I know you’re like a super credible poster and all, but could you link this quote for me? Thanks in advance.

Canada latched onto the Terp OC position pretty fast. Good for him. Plus for his year of trouble at LSU, he is a millionaire. Not a bad retirement plan, all in all. Smart guy.

Now you're being a bit disingenuous. I'd agree that back when people first started legitimately wanting Miles gone that Ed Orgeron was not on anyone's lips. But AS SOON AS he became the interim you'd be lying if you're suggesting that for a LARGE percentage of LSU fans he did not become the #1 prospect...even though they all should have known his qualifications, or lack thereof. That's when all the talk about "what would he need to do" to hold on to the permanent job talk started. And as he kept losing games those people said he needed to win in order to get the job, the goalposts for what he needed to do kept being moved.
THAT'S why I did not want him to even be the interim coach...because I was afraid that if he got entrenched in that role far too many locals would be unable to remember past their own noses and simply back the guy because he was from here, rather than insist on a quality hire regardless of where the guy was from. It's why I also am worried that it'll be FAR more difficult to remove him than it ought to be...because far too many locals are now personally invested in him as one of their own rather than simply the hired gun who leads the LSU football team.

quote:I'd say you know the bulk of the LSU fanbase's mindset very well. Not deep thinkers, most act on emotion, sentiment, and habit. And have a shocking lack of actual understanding of what it takes to be a really elite football program, or how to get there - and stay there. They just wanna win da nex' game. Mix that in with bad politics and all, and you got the base of the current roux we got cookin'
