I guess this eliminates Dabo from being a top coach
This was never about eliminating Coach O or Dabo from being top coaches?

People on here were shocked that Mullen was ranked as a top coach. To me it makes sense. He has a pretty impressive resume. I was also just giving insight as to why possibly CBS ranked Mullen and Ed the way they did.

Not everything is an attack on Coach O. And I don't really understand why people on here are so defensive of him.

Jimbo has won as many national titles as Coach O.

Jimbo has another undefeated regular season and playoff appearance outside of the national title season.

Jimbo just completed A&M’s best season in 65 years.

Jimbo is 2-1 vs Orgeron.

How can you say Canada was a poor hire?

I can easily argue the only poor hire he made was Pelini

Les miles won a championship

To me, it’s all about how you handle success and how well you rebound from failure

O did not handle success very well so now we’ll see how well he handles failure

there’s a significant part of the Rant that supports individual coaches rather than the program.

I don’t understand it.

Jumbo is simply a sound bite that the media loves. Cliche after cliche. I’ll take O, and O could take Jimbo.

Orgeron was the worst coach in Ole Miss history and LSU hired him and a good number of the fans think he is something special.....let that sink in.

Ensminger was a good hire. Canada was a good hire that just wasn't a good fit personality wise. Linehan and Pelini were bad hires.

nope, his 2018 offense, with Burrow, Chase, Jefferson, Helaire, and most of the OL, was pedestrian. Only when Brady came in 2019 did it explode. I love E as a person, but he’s not a good OC.

nope. Canada’s offense was all eye candy that didn’t work. And personality is a big factor in hiring a coach. Can he work with the players? Can he work with the head coach and other coaches? Bad hire, by all accounts.

I think for being the FL HC he stinks. He is at one of the very top premier recruiting schools in the country And hasn’t come close to a small of a NC. FL should be in it every yea like AL, Ohio State and GA and IMO U of TX and A&M . Maybe add OK and LSU. The school’s success is what it should be judged on. Ability at Play calling makes him a good OC, not a Good HC.

Jimbo won a natty too. It seems to have escaped you.

I love how you seem to miss the obvious. Orgeron lost 35 players, both coordinators, his starting QB in just the 3rd game, and had key players opt out after the season had already started. So in your line of thinking all that was needed was a few “Xs and Os” and magic would happen.

You can make excuses all you want but we had more defensive talent than half the SEC and yet produced one of the worst defenses in the SEC and school history. We lost Aranda (who was a good defensive coach) and was left with Pelini and O (neither of which can adequately coach SEC defenses anymore).

Pretty much everyone shut down Mississippi State and they set an SEC record amount of passing yards on us. That is 100% X's and O's.

Coach O is a good recruiter and motivator, but he's not some master football strategist by any stretch of the imagination.

What?

A recency Bias? LOL.

The point is, these rankings take into account a coach’s full body of work. Ole miss is part of O’s, as is his success so far at LSU. You are the one exhibiting a recency bias

No I am telling you that what Orgeron did at Ole Miss is irrelevant to LSU and what he has done at LSU. I do not care about Ole Miss and results there because I know Ole Miss is a Bottom Feeder and comparing results between the two simply ignoring his resounding success at LSU. The only reason you continue to bring up Ole Miss is to try to minimize Orgeron's accomplishments at LSU. It makes as much sense for Ole Miss fans to say "I knew Orgeron was a good Coach" based on his LSU results as it does to say "look at what Orgeron did at OLe Miss". You are comparing Apples to Horse Turds. Orgeron is 45-14 at LSU with an SEC Title and A National Championship. I gues Ole Miss should include those results when they speak of Orgeron.
Hilarious.

Regarding the Ole Miss time period, Coach O took a dead dog and was just about to "turn the corner". Year 1 the were getting killed. Year 2 they were competitive. Year 3 they came damn close to beating some good SEC teams. I'm glad they fired him at the end of year 3, because they were taking some of the recruits LSU really wanted. And, you see what Numb Nutt did with Ed O's recruits just before he left for Arky...

Mullen is 2-2 against Coach O, and should be 3-1. Marco screwed him over at the end of the game with one of the dumbest penalties I've ever seen.

So on top of being an Orgeron hater you are also apparently clairvoyant as you know that LSU had 4th down and wasn’t going to punt and back Florida up. Maybe get a second pick 6. Get a fumble. Or who knows what may have happened as LSU was harassing Trask all damn day.

I happen be as clairvoyant as you and I know that LSU was going to recover a muffed punt and score a TD a couple of plays later. As it was I enjoyed the
57 yard Field Goal and watching Florida miss a 51 yarder. Sorry you were pulling for Mullen. Lol.

I really believe LSU with a healthy Brennan at QB probably wins 7 games. If Orgeron had recognized Max Johnson as a better option prior to the aTm game I bet we win that game. So even with all the defensive BS the quarterback position is the biggest reason LSU managed only 5 wins last year.

That includes the game in multiple OT’s with horrible officiating that gifted that game to A&M

Yeah you also “knew” that anybody who said Pelini wasn’t going to be back next year was an idiot because he wasn’t going anywhere and that anyone who thought Finley could land at a P5 school was clueless. Says a lot about what you “know”, Rob.
