Problem with that rule is the shitty strike call on the pitch before. Guidry should be on 1B.

if they are going to enforce the clock for the batter/pitchr to set, then the ump needs to make his calls immediately and not delay...the umps delayed call of the strike set that in motion...

Situations like that expose a flaw in the rule. The ump has to have some sort of discretion but I’d imagine he was ticked at Guidry showing him up on the horrible strike 2 call.

That's a bullshite rule. LSU is going to lose one this season on this kind of shite. Umps can take 5 minutes to review a play but a kid can't take 11 seconds to recover from a blown pitch call.

It’s not. It was badly needed at the collegiate and pro level. Players take forever getting back into the box.

I’m good with 20 seconds per pitch. That’s reasonable. On the batter’s end, it should simply be the ump telling them to get back in the box. These automatic strikes when the batter is unsure when the clock is rolling is making a mockery of the game.

I think it’s 12 seconds in the MLB, I would be for a warning before it’s an automatic strike.

it wasn't so much of showing him up, it was the umps fault in delaying the call strike...if we are going to have rules for batters/pitchers to be set, it needs to be enforced that the umps need to make an immediate ball/strike call...that was all on the ump's delayed call that set that in motion and they need to be called out on it...
