Why don't we compare Canada's LSU offense to Ensminger's LSU offense instead?

Canada: Total Offense 54/129 (after telling O to f-off)

Ensminger: Total Offense 111/129 (after saying, "Yes, Sir. I will run the offense you have envisioned.")

You can look to the fact that all of O's offenses at Ole Miss were ranked in the 100's for further guidance. He simply cannot let his coaches coach. He has to micromanage everything, including the offense, in which he has zero expertise.

Maryland is 3-0 and averaging 47.3 points per game. In what universe is their offense worse than LSU’s offense?

By what metric is Bowling Green worse than SLU?

UMD is 2-0
Didnt say they were worse. Point is comparisons are really not possible. Canada at LSU had a QB who was starting his 18th college game in the 1st game of Canada's tenure at LSU. Burrow has started two.
LSU ran clock in 2nd half of Miami and didnt want to throw. Against SLU in 2nd half, we were bad. But may have had something to do with missing two starting OL, one by choice of having him sit out a suspension.

Point: Canada wasnt trusted by O and didnt get along with other coaches, including Aranda. He's gone. Let's see what Steve can do.

Lol. He also thinks 27.2 PPG and 411 YPG sucked last year with even lesser talent than E had in 2016.

While it is not great. It isn’t the definition of sucked either. He also has proven that at PITT and now Maryland. Chicken needs a Litmus test for football knowledge before these morons can post anymore.

I have no doubts Canada woulda put up over 30 PPG this year with burrow.

Yet another "Derek" reference.
Is that your go-to reply for any post even slightly positive about LSU football?

“ no reason to think that it can’t be done”

Honestly, that’s the most bizarre part about all of this. Our AD fires our last coach and fires that coaches OC making a point to state the LSU offense is not acceptable. After making that statement numerous times, he hires for our head coach a DLguy. Then our past DL coach, after screwing his 1st try, hires a tight end coach off the staff that just got fired to run the offense that everyone says needs improving. The net result, to this point in time, is a lless productive offense than the one we had in 2015

I’ve never seen a more convoluted thought process in all my time as an LSU fan, but I damn sure hope it works!

They won't though. They'll cling to the narratives of "that was ancient history", "we shut the offense down with big leads", and the "secret playbook" as long as possible.

Through two games, little has been done to quell the concerns about the offense. We're left hanging on to the hope that things will finally be different this time. If there isn't measurable improvement this Saturday, that hope will dwindle further.

Here's the thing, we have no idea how good Canada could have been if O wasn't meddling in the offense.

the heavily edited orgeron version of canada's offense wasn't good. that's what people don't get.

now, was he a jerk and couldn't get along with people? maybe. in that case he needed to go for personality reasons. but his offense is a competent college offense

How good could Belichick have been at LSU? Doesn't matter. Neither Canada or Belichick are coming.

Minger is here, and it is FAR too soon to throw him under the bus. 2-0, with a win over a top-10 Miami is pretty good. Could well get a tough win in Auburn.

The W is the thing that matters. Who cares if LSU runs up the score on a small school program. They were completely defeated before the 2nd quarter started. E & O cut them some slack. The W was NEVER in jeopardy.

“ we have no I idea how good Canada could have been if O wasn’t meddling in the offense”

I think that’s a fair assessment. Once Coach O put his hand on the offense, it became his offense as much as Canada’s. imo

My main point was, Coach O messed up his first important offense hire no matter who was to blame for our offense in 2017.

“ Who cares if LSU runs up the score....”

Thing is, I distinctly recall a press conference given by Coach O in 2016 when he was auditioning for the head LSU coach job in which he said, pedal to the metal while I am coach or words like that.

So, the questions becomes, did he change his offensive philosophy in that regard or have we just sucked on offense in last half of two football games?

I guess we will know more this Saturday.

Is 2017 now to be used as a measuring stick?
The guy LSU fired for "no offense" only once in 11 tries (2009), had a worse scoring offense than 2017.

I think we can have some idea by how Canada's done at his other stops.

Pure speculation, but I think Canada wanted to come up with something that had a chance vs Bama. He knew it wasn't what we'd tried in the past. And I don't think he thought we had the horses to fling it all over the field. Rather, it was predicated on setting up and hitting some big plays.

I give him credit for trying.

Actually yes. The 2011 team was far superior on both sides of the ball.

Then we agree, just clearing up if the OP was indicating that.

Those who refuse to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.

You don’t think its useful to see if it was O or Canada that fricked up our offense?

Especially while we’re lookig so prolific.
