No he wasn’t. He started signing stars and really was a poor evaluator of talent. He didn’t look at guys as to how they fit our system.

I should have clarified that I meant specifically the recruitment part of being a recruiter - i.e. convincing guys to commit.

I almost added that he was a piss poor evaluator but to be honest I don’t think we know that for sure. It’s hard to separate bad evaluations from bad coaching. Would a different staff/team have had a better hit rate with the same players? I don’t know, but maybe.

Your Apu Ika example is a good one IMO - we were running a 3-4 when we recruited him and he was a great fit for that scheme. Losing him was more of a coaching / roster management failure than a recruiting failure IMO.

It’s really just a matter of semantics though. I agree with what you’re saying.

You also have to take into account how many of those players are remaining on the roster

Having quality players and developing those players are two different things. Yes Ed recruited some good players, but he did a shite job of developing them(the ones who actually stayed or are currently on the roster).

Yeah, Big Chief Notebooks would probably be banned today, but everyone had them when I was a small child…

Thank you!

Did you forget the part where we only had like 5 players for the bowl game?

That probably sounds good to you. Now tell me how many from those 2019-2021 class were still on the roster when Kelly took over?

How many scholarship players does LSU have on the roster right now?

Or just keep sticking your head in the sand about facts that don't line up with whatever you think is going on.

Or maybe it's because you're pissed you're hero coach was fired or not hired.

All of this is really moot because we’re up to 72 scholarship players

You say this like it's a good thing. It's not. When you've added half the team this year, that does not bode well in general.

Being 13 players shy of the scholarship limits isn’t a good thing.

If the NCAA imposed that it would be considered a fricking harsh penalty.
