Ragin Cajuns did it in 2014. Lost to Jackson State then beat San Diego State, Jackson State and Mississippi State twice

Not to overly dramatic, but this reminds me a little when the tigers came thru the 1989 Texas a/m regional - they had to come thru the losers bracket and had to beat no.9 ranked A&M twice in a double header.

Not even close to the same.

A&M was ranked #1. They were 54-3 and had only lost one game at home all year.

It was the six team regionals where LSU lost the second game meaning that after starting 1-1, they had to win 4 games in two days. The last two would have to be over A&M at their home field.

Oregon in a 4 team regional is not even close.

It may bother some of you, but LSU made the tournament by the skin of their teeth. This was readily admitted after losing to the dawgs in the tourney.

Again, unless you were in the committee room, you don’t know what you’re talking about. We were pencilled in even before the SEC tourney. Perhaps not as comfortably as we would’ve liked, but we were in regardless

Has LSU ever had a team lose the 1st game of a regional and come back to win it?

The 89 team that had to beat Texas Am twice was a bigger deal. AM was the host and a top 5 team that year.

I can keep going. LSU was not in a good position after that loss.

Didn’t Houston come out of the loser bracket in a regional we hosted a few years back and beat LSU?

I don’t understand why suggesting or stating that LSU was on the bubble, which was clearly the case, would bother any LSU fan? Hell even CPM admitted they were just gonna have to wait & see what the committee decided.

I honestly didn’t think LSU deserved an invite after that embarrassing face-plant vs UGA @ the SECC in Hoover!

Yeah I don't get why some people think we were a shoe in even after the SEC tourney disappointment. I absolutely 100% believe that if it were another year where CPM had not announced it would be his last hurrah that we would have been left out.

I don’t know, but it’s always like this with most fans (not just LSU).

I think I heard on the broadcast Saturday that only 5 teams total have come back to win the regional when losing the first game?

it's more than that, but that includes all seeds

3 seeds don't do it that often

and LSU has never done it (well yeah, we hadn't lost the first game of our regional since '85)

and LSU hasn't advanced from a road postseason round since 1989

Didn’t Houston do it against LSU several years ago?

It’s not that people think lsu was a shoe in following the SEC tourney it’s that people are saying they barely got in. They were not one of the last 5 in so according to the committee that actually picks the teams they were in comfortably. It doesn’t matter what people thought or projected before then. The committee’s selection is final.

being one of the last five in is getting in by the skin of their teeth. Lsu wasn’t in the last 5 in.

You people can act like LSU wasn't very fortunate to get in and that Mainier's pending retirement didn't play a role in the decision all you want. It's moot now and I really don't care.

They're one win away from an amazing run out of the losers bracket.

No I really don't. It's just amusing that people can't handle someone else saying LSU was very fortunate to make the tournament, which has merit no matter how much it bothers them.

Look no further than Kentucky a few years ago, or even UGA this year.

I'm with you on this one. I love how fans can talk out of both sides of the mouth sometimes. We were a dumpster fire of a team all year, win a few series to end the season, and then shite the bed in the SEC tourney but we DESERVED to make the regionals.

I couldn't care less if it was luck or if baby Jesus himself whispered into someone's ear to make it happen. We're in the regionals and hot.

Let's fricking do this!

I was pretty sure I heard the analysts from last night say the same thing:

Only 5 teams have lost GAME 1 and come back to win the Regional.

Yes, it would be pretty historic. We've had to win 3 games in a row with our backs against the wall just to get to this one.

Yes this is difficult to do. Extremely. Tonight is our 5th game, in 4 days.

Whomever is in this spot burns through a ton of pitching. Eventually, it catches up to ya. That's the biggest reason is so damn difficult to do.

The other reason - you've gotta win 4 in a row against good teams.
