You know what else is unoriginal and was cool a long time ago? Chanting "L-S-U" really loud. Should we stop doing that too?

Yes you have and you've spent three pages arguing with people who state we should expect more from the fans.

ETA: And I'm not even arguing about what should be expected from fans. I've argued that this has little bearing on the country's perception of Louisiana and about whether chants being creative make s a difference. You should try reading.

For the record, I'm not defending the FU chant, throwing stuff, and especially not the overrated chant. But to act like these things were the only things the student section did that night is dishonest.

Didn't you just get finished telling me you don't care about creativity?
I don't. I wish dry-erase-board guy would go away.

Then why the posts crying about things not being creative? Clearly the lack of creativity bothers you.

You are right. Go back to birthing a baby tiger, or whatever the hell it is that you were talking about earlier.
In general, I think the students were loud and were a huge part of the game Saturday. I wish every game could be like that. I am not hating just to hate....I am just making the point that if you subtract the few bush-league things that came out of that section, it really can be an outstanding group. It is a shame that a few events give the whole section a black eye sometimes.

Perhaps if you were more reasonable you wouldn't let a couple things ruin a mostly great atmosphere for you.

I agree with this part.
But frick you, I thought the birthing was funny

Just shut up already and quit trying to twist every word you see on your screen around into a pretzel.
I could give 2 shits about people at a game being creative or not creative. Really. But what is annoying is when someone goes out of their way and fails, like dry-erase board dude.

No thanks. If you get to keep posting your opinion I'll continue to post mine.

Obviously you could.

What's equally annoying is the holier than thou people like yourself.

[quote]It's equally ridiculous to expect a student section to give one shite, much less two, about any children that might be at the games. It'd be like taking your kid to Bourbon St and being surprised when they hear and see inappropriate things. If you can't handle explaining to your kids that ...
You know, I am reading your posts and I keep seeing this and comments like "looks like we have another sitter."
I don't think you understand the concept of "defend". You also clearly don't understand that the university can and does eject anyone for throwing an object under any circumstance.
Do you defend a student's right to chant the F word at an opposing player? It sounds like you are.
My point is we should demand a higher standard of excellence - just like several on this site say we should of our coaches.

Perhaps you're the one lacking the understanding. Nah, that can't be it.

Where do I say it was OK or that I wouldn't discipline them if given the choice? Because I in fact said that I would, in this thread no less. Guess you missed it.

Students are going to student. I don't have to agree with or defend it to acknowledge that it's most likely going to happen.

And wasn't the original a high school, giving birth to a person?
So you think changing it to a tiger makes it cool and original?
And screw whoever started that dumb soccer chant at the games. It only works for the USMNT and it needs to stay there. Quit that shite.

No, I understand the term "defend" well enough. I also understand that you condemn throwing objects at games sometimes but that there are times it might be appropriate. I assume you think there are also circumstances when chanting the F word at an opposing player is acceptable.
My position is that there are no instances when either is acceptable. Engaging in either activities opens one up to ejection from the game and a visit with the Dean.
You are defending the position that students should be able to do both.
We need a higher standard of excellence from our fans.

It started as a football chant. But that shows how much you know.

I think this is getting blown out of proportion big time. I'm proud of our die hard fan base, players and coaches.

Nope. Still haven't said they should do it or that I approve of it. Not once.
