Just hoping someone will pitch.

Heres the big problem people, if we dont hit the ball we dont win. The one chance we had of a pitcher shutting down the other team happened yesterday. No matter who pitches we have to hit. That said, as long as his leash is short, im fine with this.

Dang I forgot about Godfrey! We have the arms to do this but they will have to bring it!! Our offense has to score runs too. I just think this team will have it out for TCU. Hoping they take good at bats and be aggressive but smart at the same time. Hopefully the wind is blowing straight out tomorrow! Go Tigers

Any pitcher we have is capable of shutting down any team we play. I'm not saying it will happen, but they all have the talent to do it, and you can't predict how well these teams will Or won't swing the bat.

I agree, but you can't rely on it with anyone other than Lange. If you want to win with the rest of the staff we have you have to score.

Well yesterday Lange gave up 3 in the first, not very ideal the way we were hitting the ball leading up to yesterday. I know we ONLY scored 5 yesterday, but if we keep swinging the bats the way we did yesterday, we have a very good shot to sweep the next 3 games.

I just hope they don't play this by a script/pitch-count. If he's in there for 3-4 innings and absolutely killing it, I hope they keep going with him until he gets hit hard (1-2 times max) or losses the zone.
And, if's he struggling in the 1st inning, I hope they pull the cord real quick. I don't see him at the same level as Lange where if he gets roughed up, he can work through it and settle down later.
Those are two polar opposites and there is a ton of room in between. That's where the real question lies.
Do they go with Person and let him pitch until LSU is threatened, or do they follow a schedule? It's easy to agree that if Person goes 2, and doesn't give up a run and is cruising to leave him in. But, if we are tied at 1 heading into the 3rd and he has given up 2 or 3 hits what happens?
My guess is that this is going to be a by committee approach. Sure, Person will stay in if he is killing it. But, other than that, they are going to make changes on a schedule. This won't be a "let him go for as long as he can" strategy.

Person will pitch as long as Person is effective. 1, 2, 8 innings, doesn't matter. He's got the ball as long as he is getting outs.

You didn't really fix anything. Both statements are basically the same thing.....

Like Bouman against Houston...? Yeah, I went there.

You think "a very good shot" and "at least a chance" are the same thing? Ok.

Obviously you have to win the first one first, but if you can win smart vs win dumb there is still more games to be played.
Winning dumb is still better than losing smart
And I don't get how throwing Person 50 pitches is winning dumb. Someone has to do the work, in this case you'll just be saving arms that aren't Person

Let him go until he gets in a bind. Whether it's the 2nd or the 6th or 9th. If it's workin why change it up

As it should be. At this point, we're going to need someone unexpected (Person, Newman, Reynolds, Godfrey, etc.) to give us a random Nolan Cain-esque gem to make it out of the bracket. May as well be Person...or whoever drops their nuts on TCU/Vandy.

People keep referring to it as matchups, but it's really percentages. Mainieri is playing the percentages at this point.

Damn you beat me to it! I completely agree

Bouman shut out Houston on 2 hits through 6 innings, by far his best start as a Tiger. Yeah, I'd settle on that by Person or anyone else for that matter.
