Another indication that Miles controls the offense.
I know we have arguably the best RB tandem in the country and they should carry the load. But if we would use TE's and intermediate WR routes, we'd blow opponents minds....

Handoff, handoff, go route. Handoff, handoff, go route.

Well now, let's be fair. There are some 5 yard outs and come-backs on 3 and 9 mixed in there as well

We don't throw over the middle since Jarrett Lee because Les doesn't trust his qbs. What I've seen of Brandon Harris, he can't hit any type of throws consistently so it's a good strategy IMO.

Would have been a great outlet in the Alabama game last year.

Lack of repetition of this is a major factor though.

When you're offense is basically the Field Goal formation but a Running Back instead of a kicker, your passing game tends to suffer....

Desean Smith has been at LSU for 10 years

Was thinking the exact same thing.

I have seen clips of Cameron coaching Harris to fire it in there. Not sure if the touch is being practice or the middle stuff. But I would imagine they have at times.

I'd like to believe with reps and more coaching they could become more efficient. LSU could certainly use a big body with great hands over the middle.

2 wide I-formation (D is obviously ready for ISO run with LF) audible and put desean out wide making a LB cover him.
Les Miles would have to skip two decades to be only one decade behind to understand that concept.

Pass to the tight in? What a thought.

He's dealt with a lot of nagging injuries the last few years which is why he hasn't seen the field much. Never really been 100%.

Dillon Gordon was literally on one foot held together by duct tape, shoe string, and bubble gum, and Les STILL put him out there and he got hurt almost instantly. Jacob Hester could hardly walk against Kentucky and he got the first three carries in overtime against them. I'm sure injuries have something to do with it, I'm just not sure it explains the entire story.

Oh, I don't know, Antonio Gates ring a bell? LaDainian Tomlinson and Ray Rice both had 80-plus receiving seasons. It's not like Cam hasn't thrown to TEs and RBs throughout his history. I wish someone would ask him. It doesn't make sense because that's who he's always been prior to LSU.

Have y'all seen the "LSU in 60 Minutes" showing on ESPN?

I noticed something on many of LF's TD runs. Desean Smith was in there, blocking on the left side of the line, and keeping a LB from making the stop.

This^

O.J. Howard is actually used for passing plays whereas DeSean is not nearly as frequently. Hopefully, they can script some plays with Jeter and him on the field at the same time. Jeter has really good hands and obviously must be the better blocking tight-end of the two even though they're around the same weight.

He should be our 3rd to 4th leading receiver behind Dural, Dupre, and LF.

Use him in the slot like we did against Notre Dame two years ago, he had a big game!

If true, maybe in Les' mind he's being used as a decoy they hardly ever throw to. Yeah, baby!! Just setting him up over the last 3 years for this year.

Les and Cam should just go to Sean Payton and ask him for 4 plays designed for the tight end and as good as Desean is and with our running game, bingo, problem solved; our offense would probably be great if the TE's as a group were the 2nd leading receivers on the team; the TE's should get about 60 balls in this offense; it makes defense against us a lot easier when you can practically ignore the TE in the passing game

Why does he need to go to Sean Payton? He moved Antonio Gates all over the flippin formation. I don'y get it. It would be different if he'd never done it before but he was one of the very first to do it.

Our inability to utilize a TE has baffled me for several years. Richard Dickson was the last TE I remember having a receiving impact. Thats disgraceful
