Don't think Aranda will be HC here. I don't foresee the new board approving another internal hire, even though Aranda would actually be an excellent one.

Simple.... Lane as head coach, Aranda as AHC and DC. Perfect duo

Another vote for Dave if these are the only two choices. Kiffin has just been too just erratic in his previous stints and I think in the long run he would come back to bit us in the a$$.
My preference would be an up and comer young, hungry head coach like Will Wade in basketball. Not sure who that is, but they are out there just waiting on their chance to get a job like LSU.
The most important part is too hire someone that most in the media and college football world respect. I guess we aren't supposed to care what other's think, but it isn't fun being a laughing stock.

You just said you’d rather Kiffin... but you’d also rather defensive minded... the question was to pick one of them you cock

Kiffin as HC.
Briles as OC. (He'd leave Houston in a New York minute)
Aranda to stay on as DC.
Kiffin + Briles + Burrow + LSU WR Corps = 400 yds per game passing avg.

Aranda. He's more unproven, but somebody has to roll the dice.
Regarding Kiffin, every time he goes somewhere, it's hyped when he gets the job. Boy genius, etc. But it's been a mess when he leaves, and multiple former employers have been openly ugly (a rare thing) about him. Al Davis flat out called him a conman and a liar, USC fired him on the airport tarmac, Tennessee was furious too.
Has he changed? Well, he's now throwing stones at Saban every chance he gets, and Saban was the guy who helped recover his reputation.
I'd rather take a chance on an unknown but hot prospect, than roll the dice with a proven maniac. The program needs stability, something Kiffin isn't known for.

take Aranda in a heartbeat. Kirby seems to be starting out ok with his first gig.
Big difference when you were Sabans right hand man for how many years?
I love Aranda, but I'd go with Kiffin at this point. Aranda will be a great HC one day, LSU cant afford another risky hire after O.

I have no idea why this board is so high on Kiffin. He wasn't successful at Tennessee; he wasn't successful at USC (and was fired in a humiliating way). I don't know what you guys see in him.
Sell Kiffin to me.
Sell Kiffin to me.

The market is not as good as everyone is making it out to be.
Name 2 candidates you’d like to see?

Lane is still the little prick he's always been... Please tell me when he has demonstrated responsibility for his actions... Tell me which departure from the raiders, the vols, the trojans and the tide was handled with maturity and grace.
Lane Kiffin? No thank you.

Dave Aranda or Lane Kiffin?
Aranda
Promote from within again, not a good idea and Aranda is totally unproven as a head coach.
I do not think he even wants the pressure of taking over LSU for the tad bit more money he will get. Aranda could not command a 4.5 to 6 million dollar salary and if we offered him 3 to 3.5 he would not make the move

He was more successful than Orgeron when LSU hired him.

I agree. We need to be back in the top 10 regularly. Don’t care who we hire. Even if it makes us look shady.

I’d go with Kiffin. I believe his previous stints as HC’s were too early in his career and he wasn’t ready.
So Kiffin gets a pass on his large body of mediocre results as recently as 5 years ago, but O get's crucified for a bad job 11 years ago. Got it.

Sell Kiffin to me.
Sexy, promises of performance, seemingly just a little "more" when compared to others.
But then invariably, when you get that Ferrari in your name, you find it doesn't run right, is an absolute bitch to maintain, you're lucky to get a sunday drive in, and forget about functional in a reliable manner.
There was hope that Saban would have whipped him into shape, the way Kiffin shits on him in media almost daily, that doesn't seem to be the case.
