Btw the question was simple, why is this issue treated totally different that other health issues with much higher mortality rates?

1) It’s new, and therefore has no vaccine nor an agreed upon treatment

2) because it’s new, they’re not sure about long-term effects and how long antibodies can protect you from getting it again

3) it’s super contagious. I’m only 40, so if I get it, I’ll likely be fine. But I’m not down with just saying “frick em” and sacrificing my parents and in-laws (my kids are rather fond of all 4 of their grandparents) and all the other good folks in America that are high-risk. My grandfather preached every Sunday until he was 90–sharp as a tack. I don’t think we should just deem the 70+ crowd useless and unworthy of sparing.

By the way, I’m a Trump supporter. I think this has been way overblown by the media, and our economy and way of life has been fricked too hard and for too long. And I think we should do whatever it takes to have football if possible. I’m just trying to be logically consistent and intellectually honest. And if you are saying the virus is a “hoax” or there is “zero” risk, you are misrepresenting the facts, and misrepresenting me, as the other side lumps us all together as looney tunes conspiracy theorists. And that pisses me off, quite frankly. So get your fricking shite together, be honest, and for the love of Christ, don’t demonize LSU players for simply trying to do what they think is right.

What’s the legit reason? He has to go to school to be eligible. More of a chance he gets it at home compared to at LSU. His choice and I respect but disagree with it.

I’m not saying either of those things but trying to put words in my mouth says a lot about how weak your argument is. As far as your power point presentation, not only is it factually incorrect it’s beside the point. If you’re going to take that approach the data you’re suggesting we go by could take over 10 years to be certain on so do we shut everything down for 5-10 years?

How can you “respect” his choice, but “disagree” with it when you obviously not only don’t know what went in to making it, but you admittedly don’t think it’s legit?”

He can agree that his decision is his to make but disagree on the reasoning. It’s not that hard to understand.

Yeah, tell that to all the baseball players catching it and that isn’t a contact sport and every players is way more than 6 feet from another player when they are in the field

My apologies for the misunderstanding. I began responding specifically to you, but quickly moved to the royal “you” without acknowledging it. At that point I was speaking more to the guys in this thread who have admittedly triggered me by calling out Neil as a “pussy” or the like.

Do what now? I didn’t present any facts in the form of data. I merely pointed out that the risk is not literally “zero,” and that obesity is—at present-%thought to be the second biggest factor after age in regards to death. If there is a more impactful comorbidity than those 2, please enlighten me—I’m more than happy to get more updated information. But the mere fact that we are having this argument/discussion—both adults who love LSU football and not only want it to be played in the fall, but think it should be—that we can’t filter through all the different data and agree on what I assumed were pretty obvious points, actually underscores my bigger point that we should give these kids like Neil the benefit of the doubt.

If you’re going to take that approach the data you’re suggesting we go by could take over to be certain on so do we shut everything down for 5-10 years?

You’ve missed my point entirely, and maybe that was my fault for not better explaining it. My position is that COVID is here to stay, and we should go back to as close to normal as we possibly can, including having college football. It would be too devastating economically to not play it unless it’s deemed absolutely necessary to shite it down. But I am speaking about the big entity of “College Football,” not individual players. I’m for freedom of individual choice. Neil Ferrell—and every player like him—should have the freedom to opt out of this craziness if they and their families think it’s right. And they should be able to do so without being called pussies.

Except he admittedly doesn’t know the reasoning. Hence, his question “what is the legit reason?”

Well that’s not true, Farrell explained his reasons so of course they’re known. You’re the one having trouble here, maybe stop trying to mind read and look at the glaring obvious.

Well, he hasn’t, so the rest of your stupid fricking selfish post is moot. But allow me to address a few issues anyway:

He has had 4 years to play and has a chance to play this season. Thus he DOESN’T GET ANOTHER CHANCE. He has his to take advantage of.

Baseball is a train wreck you dumb frick because of how they handled that situation. Paul CUT players make no mistake to make room and the fact that seniors like Beck are coming back.

quote:

Baseball got fricked because they had to make some decisions based on very limited information at their disposal at the time. They erred on the side of safety and caution.

So you admit that their deferral was BECAUSE they didn’t get to play a full season.
Neil Farrell is NOT missing any season at his own choice.

It is simple. Play or go...

Everything else you wrote is bull shite from a selfish LSU fan that only cares about the present.
This virus is real and terrible, BUT you can’t change all rules to accommodate everyone. People will lose out on this and the ones losing the least are entitled football players that are not MISSING A frickING THING OR DON’T have to miss anything.

The rest of your post is too stupid to address, but let me address this one stupid fricking point because I don’t want anybody else thinking this stupid fricking thing is real life. I alluded to it earlier, but clearly you’re too goddamn stupid to comprehend it. Nobody is getting an extra year of eligibility. ALL STUDENT ATHLETES—have 5 years to play 4. 2020 will be Ferrell’s 4th year, and he’ll be taking a redshirt. 2021 will be his 5th year in school, and 4th year to play as a redshirt SR. He is not getting any special eligibility. I’ve spelled it as clearly as I can, you dumb frick. If you’re too fricking stupid to comprehend it now, well, maybe you should go breathe some swamp water.

what do you mean? He's only had 3 years, he would use this year as a redshirt, which he's allowed to do.

I don't get the confusion about this.

I have no idea but maybe some people mistakenly think you can only take a redshirt the first year. Obviously, that is incorrect

It’s gonna be Jarell Cherry and BJ Ojulari at DE this year unless Roy moves to the outside.
