This is bull. Our fan base is no sticking around to see backups play when we are up by 40, by and large. The stadium wasn’t full to begin the game. East sideline wusses afraid it may rain stayed away.

Decades ago, we had traffic, terrible concessions, no alcohol, etc. stop using that crap as an excuse. We never left at halftime because we were up by 24 and expected the team to take care of business in the second half. What a shitty mindset as a fan.

A lot of this is self-inflicted by LSU with parking and moving tailgating the way it has. A lot of it is the pricing. Just look at the fleecing, $125 for Bama and Georgia...$50 for State, etc. Blame the arms race, and blame Title IX for equality, when no one is paying to see women’s sports on the whole.

There are many factors, but the reality is we have become soft as a fan base and as a society. I have season tickets. I go to every game, and I stay the whole game. I get a water and maybe popcorn at the game because I eat before. I wait for traffic to clear while enjoying the postgame show. My ride home is 30 minutes, which helps, but that wasn’t always the case.

Too many damn excuses from this fanbase, and the fact that we beat two top 10 teams and people are still bitching in the moment (not constructive criticism, outright bitching) is laughable. Especially when that is being used as an excuse not to show as a “fan.”

If someone could start a business using ferry shuttles along the river, the problem of traffic could be alleviated. Or all those petroleum industry helicopters could be utilized for the same purpose.

I'm surprised the casinos haven't generously offered to ferry people.

If I ever started getting upset after LSU actually WINS football games, I think I would stop watching football and re-evaluate my life.

When the stadium held 68,000 (lower bowl only) and there was no internet, you had to come to the game to see it.

Even in Houston around 1999... I could rarely hear a game on WWL, Dial up internet "broadcast" was very unreliable.

So, I'd drive over for several games a year, and ALWAYS the season opener, regardless of opponent.

Just like so many others, I don't do that anymore... it's on TV, or my phone, or Satelite radio. I can get a full day of whatever done, watch the game, and wake up at home the next morning, not smearing a 5 hour drive.

TV and internet are what killed the in stadium experience.

Rather than bitching And moaning, I’m sincerely interested in ways we can fix this issue.

-scheduling
-post-game giveaways as fans exit?
-Post-game party or concert in stadium?
-reward system if your ticket gets used (TAF points?)
-penalty system for students that leave early
-allow re-entry into stadium

I normally buy the team plays a part, but that wasn’t the case last night with LSU on Top 24-0 in the 2nd quarter.

I was surprised how alive the campus was and how dead the crowd was most of the game.

The campus was really lively yesterday. Lots of tailgates even in the pay areas and the stadium was pretty full at kickoff for a OOC game against someone we were supposed to roll.
What was depressing was the number of fans that left the game with it still in jeopardy. I could not believe how many people were streaming for the exits when it was a 3 point game.
I have been somewhat neutral on the piped in music complaint because I have been other places that use it well. I finally realized that the sound system in TS is complete crap and the quality of the sound is garbage. I was sitting on the west sideline and I could hear very little of anything the announcer was saying and the music just comes out like a hoopty crusin down the road with the sub-woofers shaking the car apart.

Reposting for posterity.

Tell me which D1 college football games do not have:

ridiculous traffic

TV commercial breaks

inflated prices and/or cruddy concessions

Tell me which other college teams fans (that attend home games and stay for the whole game) do not have HDTV's and beer and AC at home.

Tell me who from within reasonable distance from the stadium isn't used to 100°+ outside temps or a little rain.

I was at Jordan Hare last weekend and the conditions were the same. That crowd in the 4th quarter was a force.

Boycotting out of retaliation against the AD or something else is akin to not going to your kids band recital because you don't like the songs they're going to play.

Would you leave your kids peewee game because they haven't scored 59 unanswered points in the first quarter?

A smart consumer who somehow buys "overpriced" tickets stays until the fat lady sings to get his money's worth.

Bleeding purple and gold? More like bleeding entitlement.

That stadium holds enough mouths to set off the Richter scale and other teams as well as our own know it. That's got to be a great vote of confidence when you're on the field, need a boost and look up to see empty seats all over the place.

"Yeah, I'm a tiger fan since birth, but only when they're winning, and sometimes not even then". WTF kind of shite is that?

Sounds like some kind of self fulfilling prophecy to me.

Yeah, in the old days when the stadium was rocking, it was more than likely that it was not televised in the Baton Rouge area.

The fans aren't the same. As fans, the one real difference we can make is being in the stands cheering for, and supporting our guys. the fans let the team down. In the fourth quarter it was a three point game and 2/3 of the fans were gone. Pitiful

Everyone has their own reasons as to why the atmosphere has gone to shite. I think any LSU fan that has been around for more than 10 years would agree it has.

One person may want easy traffic when they leave.
Someone may want the band to play more.
Someone may want beer in the stands.
Someone may want the corporate feel of the game gone.
Someone may want tailgating back to the way it was.
Someone may want to do away with cupcake games.

The fact of the matter is all this shite went downhill when we hired Alleva and he is the person that can fix it all.

I remember tailgating on tower drive when I was in high school and through college until they started making everyone pay for parking. We couldn’t drive to our spot anymore, and honestly couldn’t afford $60 to park, so we gave up on that and went elsewhere. Now that entire area is dead. There used to be a band and a field goal set up near us, where is that, gone. Campus has died, the stadium has died, and it has all stemmed from the hire of Alleva.
