You pitch Ace game1 and give him as many possible starts as possible in CWS

Right. Lange isn't a guy who has pitched on short rest in the past, so he's likely looking at only 2 starts. Possibly available a couple of innings if needed in game 3 of championship round.

Start him Saturday (hopefully we play Sat) then he would be avilable the following Friday or Saturday in the bracket elimination game, if needed. If we get to the championship round without using him again, he'll start game 1 on Monday.

First thing first. Win game 1 with Lange.

There's no reason, other than *gasp* injury, that you would not start Lange game 1, particularly against a potent offense like FSU.

You always start your best first game. Game 2 might not be the matchup you plan for and you might be in losers bracket. Also you want Lange to pitch and start his rest period immediately.

We will likely be facing tyler holton in game 1. He is a beast, start lange. Also gives you a chance to use him 3 times if needed

Its not terrible. You have to win the first two games no matter what. Whether you lose the first or the second, doesnt really matter. And walker has been great. I wouldnt mind it.

You have to think about when Lange could start again. If he pitches Monday, he's likely not starting in a bracket elimination game Friday/Saturday.

Game 1 - W look at the scouting report OSU/CSF, Walker or Poche.

Be prepared for poche, i think there are 4-5 lefty bats in the fsu order depending on if they let holton hit

#matchups hmmm

FSU on paper isn't that great, I didn't know about the lefty heavy line up.

I still think Lange goes game 1.

Their lineup doesnt scare me, but i think holton is legit. 112ip 69 hits 2.25 era 136 k's .170 baa
Thats tough

On paper Walker is the most consistent pitcher we got. I'm throwing him game 1 and I'm not even going to question it.

You pitch whatever combo order you think gives you the best chance to go 2-0

If that's walker first so be it

I need to look at the numbers further and make a thread later on, but i feel like the best path is lange then walker for alot of reasons

Could be. I just hate the thought "pitch your ace no matter what, have to win game 1." The object is 2-0, bot 1-0

So if your two choices are

Scenario 1

Pitcher A pitches game 1-70% chance of victory

Pitcher B pitcjhes game 2- 15% chance of victory

Scenario 2

Pitcher B pitches game 1-45% chance of victory

Pitcher A pitches game 2-50% chance of victory

You go scenario 2 all day everyday

My firsth thought is no matter what, we will be facing a west coast team in game 2 that likely wont swing at bad pitches and that will be aggressive on the bases. So who do you trust to field their position the best, hold base runners, and have good command of their pitches....for me its walker

I'd also go Lange game 1, Walker game 2. There are positives & negatives to each scenario. I think this scenario has the most positives & least negatives.
