Wait a minute… our team strengths were the offensive line, fullback/H-back, and a bruising running game and the biggest weakness was quarterback play and depth at wide receiver… and we ran the I-formation? THAT’S INSANE!
i'm just stating fact
however last year when we relied fully on the running game, our offense died (bama onward) until we ran more spread (pretty much only the 2nd half of troy pre-bowl)

Slow, you and your band of merrymen won't be happy until Miles' LSU career ends the way Jim Pittman's at TCU did, will you ?

playing with the media is quite common also

Not really. I used "seems" for a reason. Once again, its part of the image he puts out. I'm sure every coach goes over his press clippings with a fine toothed comb and remembers every slight. Coaches, as a group, are known for their ego.

huh?
i just wish LSU were more aggressive and relied on speed more. might i be wrong? sure. can miles adopt this? sure can
but this thread is about perceptions of miles

its aggressive enough for the SEC
Florida has weapons to run a more unorthodox attack
Texas and OU play in the big 12. they can get away with whatever they want because talent wise, they are head and shoulders above everyone else
we dont recruit the same types of players they do(FL)
and once Tebow graudates and some of these track guys move on, there offense will prob look a little more normal

I would like to see Miles way more aggressive when it comes to special teams. For example:
1.) I would like to see LSU go for it more on 4th down and short when you are at your opponents 40 yard line. I hate to see us punt on 4th and 2 at the opponents 40-yard line and it goes into the end zone for a touchback and a 20-yard net.
2.) I want to see more blocked punts. Texas and Va Tech practically get one every other Saturday. LSU gets one every other decade. I don't understand if we are going to put Chad Jones back just to fair catch, why we even set up a return. Why not send the remaining 10 guys after the punter?

yeah since we never have good chances to return punts, i don't get why we don't try to block more either

a lot of people are saying brantley is pretty damn good.
and florida is going to keep recruiting speed players under meyer

Brantley will never run for 23 TDs or anywhere close to what Tebow did.
which is why their offense will change.
Tebow's run threat is what makes their offense so dangerous. It will lose that edge somewhat

We don't? I guess FL doesnt recruit a fullback, but otherwise what is the difference?

do you really wanna compare the speed of UFs WRs and RBs to LSUs?

compare the size of FL's RB's to Charles Scott and Keiland Williams as well as the prototypical RB's we have signed recently and the ones we are recruiting.
here's FL depth chart at RB:
Demps 5-8 183
Rainey 5-9 175
Moody 6-0 210 (transfer)
Mike Gillislee 6-0 190
Ours:
Scott 5-11 235
Williams 6-0 221
Murhpy 6-1 200
Holliday 5-5 161

I never thought LSU had slow WRs, and any difference in speed was attributable more to the talent in Louisiana versus Florida. I know LSU likes big RBs, but Miles also likes fast players too like Shepard and Trindon.
In other words, I think LSU could be successful running Florida's offense with LSU's current personnel.

quote:the combination of Daryl Clarke (athletic qb) and a young offensive line. When Clarke leaves and the oline grows up look for Jopa to return to what he does best.
Saban? yes
Carroll? yes
Paterno: PSU = spread option now
quote:unless he keeps recruiting Tyrel Pryor clones the Buckeyes will always have the 'featured back' philosophy.
Tressell: OSU will be spread option thsi year
quote:what do you think they will be doing when Colt McCoy graduates?
Brown: spread now, formerly spread option
I guess you missed my point that all of these great coaches have traditionaly and will continue to utilize ball control power football. To their credit, they have made adjustments offensively based on the skill sets of the current roster. Miles and Crowdon will max the potentials of Jefferson and Shepard in the near future but, IMO, when Garret or Z.Lee take the reins we will have to adjust again.
