Yep.. that's me!

I can be all emotional too... just not sure I want all that on my game day plate.

I was pulling for Texas anyway, but if that story had been about a Sooner, then was I supposed to feel guilty for wanting him to loose and thus disappoint some dead relative's memory??

I just like to keep things in their "place".. I'll read some sappy book for all the sad and reflective stuff, ( It NEver Rains in TS, anyone????) but, don't really want that in my game watching time!

I don't mind the stories as long as they keep them on "outside the lines" and not gameday. It may cause me to like someone I really don't want to like. We can't have that.

If you watched that story and didn't feel a little emotional, you just aren't human.
thats true but my point is that I don't want to have my emotions manipulated on saturday morning. That will happen naturally this evening I'm sure, circa 7pm. If I want to cry or feel warm and fuzzy I'll watch Grey's Anatomy, or whatever the kids are watching these days.

Or E:60. That's the show where they talk about somebody (usually with great athletic potential) who has to deal with life on the streets, etc.

I always hate those pieces but for some reason watched it today. After watching it, I no longer hate Colt Mccoy. I did NOT see that one coming.

I've always hated that "up close and personal" crap when I'm watching sports. Stick with the game.

Nah, I agree that there is not really a place for it on Gameday. Yes, there is more to life than football and we deal with all of those "feel good/bad" stories all week. Let's keep (College Football) Saturdays sacred to all of us who work hard all week and try to forget about what is going on the world around us for a day. Drop the work facade and wear your school colors and act like a fool, all is forgiven on gameday!

No, and I can't imagine anyone suggesting so.

Did anyone?

They add the elements of "family movie" to give a true entertainment value (PG13?!) and most times come up short. Some stories are OK IMO. But, just don't force it in.

I put GameDay to record on my DVR, then find other stuff to do until it's been on for about 45 minutes so I can fast forward through all the commercials and the touchy feely stuff.

Just now caught up to real time. Thank goodness for DVRs.

Sorry, but I got an overdose of that b.s. with Howard Cosell in the 60s & 70s with his Olympic “Up close and Personal” garbage.

Focus on the sport and leave the touchy-feely stuff for the soaps and the pinky-finger-out crowd.

I DVR gameday, and FF through the bad parts. I hate personal stories as it relates to sports.

What got me more than the Game Day story was the promo on ABC during the 1st quarter of OU/Texas. Brent Musberger read the promo for "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

How many people watching the game gives a crap about that show?
