Ugh. No position coaches, thank you....we need an OC.
I liked Dabo a heck of a lot as wide receivers coach at Bama, but not so much for an OC.

Morris Watts has the inside track on the OC title in Titletown. Saban loves the guy. They go way back to Michigan State days and he has SEC experience.

"The word" is that Bama has no problem paying $400,000 to $500,000 annually for a veteran OC. We shall see. I hope they don't hand it over to Pendry, his track record is bad. They need to bring in a guy with some credentials and give him the keys, and narrow Pendry's focus to the linemen.

If Bama cannot get a good OC for $500,000, that tells you all you need to know about Saban's reputation. If Pendry is promoted, you can see the writing on the wall.

Saban is literally wearing the scarlet A.

does any one realize how fast saban would be assassinated if he reached for our OC? not that i think it's true but some off the handle LSU fan would really flip... i agree with that bama fan to bring in some one new to strengthen the conference. ya'lls delusional bryant boosters should be able to finance a good one from somewhere.

Bama you are stuck with Pendry. Pendry must have something on Saban. Pendry was with the Texans and was awful. Without Jimbo, Saban would not have been as sucessful at LSU. And remember, his success happened when the SEC had a changing of the guard - Spurrier left Florida, Tenn. was headed down,Richt just getting established at Ga.

Don't feed me that Jimbo BS. You know as well as I do that you wouldn't take Jimbo back. He is decent but not great. LSU's Defense is what was dominant when Saban was there.

I agree with you on the Pendry thing. We are stuck with him. I can handle him being on the staff and giving input to the offense, I just don't want to see him calling plays...

Crowton will only leave LSU for a H.C. job, which will be on the way if his offense keeps winning championships!

Jimbo will be FSU next HC; Pendry will never be a HC. Give some love to Jimbo, I liked him and LSU in the past has had a lot worse than Jimbo

they put this propaganda out to make keep their delusional fans, well delusional, thinking that coaches at USC, LSU and others would rather come coach at Bama because its the best job in the nation. They are trying to keep up the blinding smoke cloud so that their fans won't acutally realize that a 29 year old (up and comer, right bammers?)just left their crazy arse school for a lower rung job.

I believe Crowton is here to stay. He's got so much more to work with here, talent wise. His offense has finally reached its full potential

Just like we "could never hire an established coach so we better keep Shula"....or that "Bama could never land quality recruits anymore because they are so irrelevant and their time has passed"....

Keep setting up those dominoes

DING! DING! DING!

That's exactly right. Norm Chow??? At least 10 reasons why that is total Gump delusion. If Chow couldn't get along with Pete Carroll, how the Hell would he get along with Lil Nicky? The first time Saban yelled at Chow, Chow would tell Saban to go frick himself.

This is where Miles is head and shoulders above Saban - putting a staff together. Which of course will always have Saban playing second fiddle to Miles.

You had to pay $4 Million per year to get a coach. And you also have the highest paid assistant coaches in the nation. And it was a pitiful staff assembled by Saban from day one. Did not work out to well. Your 6-6 team turned into another 6-6 team. And the offense regressed. Enjoy your high paid staff. I don't think 8-4 will be acceptable next year.

You can't be serious ?

Whereas Saban took the ball handed to him and did a fantastic job at LSU,all his and Terry's nonsense in the offseason about 'starting the program over from scratch ' at LSU was and remains horsehockey.

Saban inherited Josh Booty,Rohan Davey and talked a guy he had recruited at Michigan State to come to LSU,Matt Mauck. None of those 3 were great NFL QB's,but they were good (yes even Booty's SR yr) college quarterbacks. Plus,he hit a homerun with Fisher. Had Saban had John Parker Wilson and no backups,it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY LSU would have gone 8-4 and 10-3 in his first year at LSU.

I'd be a little spooked if I was an Alabama fan right now. "Process" or not, Saban went through defensive coaches like changing socks. Its his defense,so if Steele were to go to South Alabama,it wouldn't be a big deal. A 28 yr old defensive Major Applewhite would be fine.

Offense is where Saban's staff had stability. He left Fisher alone pretty much.Sounds like he must have had a hard time getting any nibbles last year for OC and the Applewhite departure will make it worse.

How much does Weiss make? Stoops? Meyer? Mack Brown? What does Miles rope in next year? Does the term "salary commensurate with experience" mean anything to you?
As far as the staff, what was Kevin Steele's rep when he was hired? Great recruiter. Can you argue that the recruiting angle has paid off? We needed to stock the cupboards, ASAP, as much as win some games. As far as on the field, year one is a mulligan to me, no matter who you are or where you coach. Ask me again in two years.

To answer the thread question, I think the Gumps believe it.

I have seen more delusion from that fan base than any other (Scoop excluded). Flame on Gumps

Bama fans...Saban will have a tougher time winning at your school. For one, the SEC is much tougher now than when Saban was at LSU. The SEC is getting so tough, it's scarey.

Bear Bryant never faced competition on the level Lord Saban will.
