did you watch the game today ?
I watched Lee get flushed out of the pocket, keep his eyes down field and throw a TD to La Fell. Hatch would have run.

I have to go with the Harvard man after game one. Defense saved him by holding App St. to just three points after Lee threw that interception which left them on like the 10. Saw a couple double coverage passes in the game that were not sharp at all. Some quarterbacks can thread the needle and makes these plays work but the throws I saw into double coverage were not even close to a good pass. I think both guys will be good but right now Hatch appeared more ready.

Hatch is terrible. Don't expect any third and long conversions this year. He has a noodle arm and looks to run immediately if his primary receiver is open. NOT SEC MATERIAL.

Neither are you.

Looks great doing everything but throwing more than 10 yards. Can ge throw a 15 yard out? His arm strength is iffy.

if he's slower than flynn or mauck, it's by like half a step. he looks quicker than flynn also

he may be quicker than Flynn, but not sure he has the first step Flynn had...he really looked just like Mauck on a couple of runs. Was a little surprised we didn't see a few QB draws.

I think it is safe to say that anybody who posts on this board is not SEC material, does that mean we can't discuss the QB situation?

Lots of vanilla in the play calling today. 459 yds. total offense.

I'm still concerned about the ability of either QB to be consistent against SEC quality defenses. I know it was a first game situation for both but there is a lot of room for improvement....hopefully by the time we travel to Auburn, both will have improved and correct some of the errors shown today. I guess it's still a tossup between the two with each showing some promise....thankfully we still have a couple of warmups before the battle starts.

Both QBs played about like I thought they would. Both were some what timid. I thought the throws werent always perfect. There probly should have been way more interceptions by our QBs. That has to change. Because SEC opp. dont drop the ball when they should intercept it. Some poor decisions were made here and there but they got it done. Thats all im asking of them this season. Manage the game, makes some plays when we need them otherwise just get the ball in the playmakers hand. They did that today. First game, good job. We amassed 460 yds and 40 points I call that a great day. At least we arent pouting about losing this game like Michigan had to last year. We put App. St. in there place which is what we should have done.

I think Hatch did good for his first true start with LSU. J Lee looked confused when he was in, but I'm still a fan

The interception and poor clock management said it all. Hatch can manage a game - even if his throws suck. I'll take game management over 'potential'.

Well put. It's pretty clear the QB's and punting were weak spots and I have little confidence Hatch would have beaten Auburn last year like Flynn did. On one hand, he didn't screw up, but on the other he wasn't really put in a situation where he had to do much either.

Lee led a TD drive (of over 80 yards I think, maybe more) under 2 minutes without burning a timeout.

So...

I hope that both improve, because I was honestly wasn't impressed with either. They both have glaring shortcomings and it will be difficult to get around that against SEC competition. You Hatch fans can defend him all you want, but he simply has NO arm strength. It is a fact. But, he did look more mature and settled, and he can run Crowton's spread more effectively.

Lee looked lost out there. He didn't manage the line of scrimage well and the pick he threw was terrible. We would also have to work the offense a little differently with him in. All of the option plays go away and SEC defenses will know it as soon as he steps on the field. He had his positives, though. He definitely has the stronger arm. You could see the difference on that first throw to Dickson. The scramble and pass for a TD also showed that he has enough mobility to keep a play alive while still looking downfield.

Do any of you think that either of these guys looked ready to face a 8 man Auburn front in a road game? I know its the first game, but you have to admit, Flynn inspired a lot more confidence in his first two starts. I know that Mauck struggled early, as well, but he had all of the tools in one package. He just had to put them all together. I fear that neither Hatch or Lee has all of the natural abilty in one package.

As for me, I don't care who plays. I want the one that gives us the best chance to win in the SEC. I just don't want to see a repeat of Saban's QB shuffle in 2005. I was just hoping to see one of them emerge and look like "the guy." I don't think that happened today. I'm sure we all hope thay will both progress a lot over the next two weeks.

Hatch is faster than Flynn and Mauck.

Please don't start that mess.

No, I have a noodle arm...I did not get past freshman baseball. He has a less than average SEC arm. Honestly I cannot remember a LSU QB having his lack of arm strength.
