McElroy better than Locker, lol. Now that is some funny stuff there. He isn't even better than JJ. I guarantee you that Locker is the best quarterback in the Pac-10 hands down and he could easily contend in the SEC. He is definitely NFL material.

Locker had a career game, will not approach the success he had in week one again. Unless a WR is wide open, Locker cannot hit him.

Not all LSU fans expected a blowout, the game went as expected. New offense for Washington, New defense for LSU. It went right as expected.

3. Jefferson was very poised for someone only starting his third game. He wasn't great, but I wouldn't expect Crowton to put him bad positions (i.e. open up the playbook) this early in his career, and he and Les didn't.
I saw another poster say this, but when Jefferson started the Chickfila bowl, did Crowton and Les hold him back?

Did he throw 15+ yards down the field in that game?

Do you have to throw more than 15 yards to be poised?

Yes Chicken I wasn't happy with the play calling either but you have to be confident that Jefferson will only mature and get better from here on out.......and you have to feel that they won't be a vanilla as they were in Washington from here on out.

i thought the lbs played the best of any defensive units
There is no question about this. Riley was making plays all over the field, Coleman had good pressure on Locker several times, and of course there was Cutrera's INT. They played well.

The d-line, on the other hand ... and the safeties ...

Haven't seen it posted yet, but the only other "unit" I was impressed with was the interior defensive line. I just hope Alexander can stay healthy. He's faced too many setbacks in his career already, and I'd hate to see him go down in his sixth year of eligibility.

Drake Nevis and Al Woods are going to be forces inside. There was one play in particular where Woods almost got to Locker by knocking his man almost 4 yards back, and almost completely off his feet. Drake played a heck of a game. He was good stuffing the run inside, as was Woods, and he chased on just about every play that went away from him. Plus the sack for a loss of ten made his performance even sweeter.

I think Coleman is going to be a great fit at Sam. When he blitzes, he creates havoc. Now, if we get better play from the defensive ends, our pass rush is going to get better and better as the season goes on. I'm hoping this was just a vanilla defense, but I really don't want to see 3-man fronts anymore. I don't mind it so much when it's Alem in a two-point stance, but when it's only three down linemen, that irritates me.

Whoever said that Alabama's backup quarterback last year is better than Locker just doesn't know football. Locker will be drafted in the NFL. McElroy could not beat out a dude last year that will never play in the NFL.

FYI, the Falcons cut the great D.J. Shockley from UGA and kept JPW as their 3rd string QB, arm lacking or not, definitely not as athletic as DJ.

Regarding Chad Jones, there is a big difference between being a physical specimen with speed compared to a great football player who displays a knack for reading plays quickly and putting oneself in position to effectively make stops. I haven't seen it out of CJ since he stepped on the field other than a sack of JPW in T-town. Hope he improves quickly or better put someone else in his position.

If Locker goes 11-27 for 117 yards next week vs Idaho are LSU fans still going to build a shrine for his play against LSU?

3rd down gets corrected on D, then we'll be fine. But that appears to be a big if. LSU did pretty well on 1st and 2nd down for most of the night

Thats a Chavis signature.

Ever heard of "3rd and Chavis" by Tenn fans?
