I feel like he's a little too patient at times. There are runs where if he would hit the hole he wquicker he could break longer runs. That is why zavion thomas is so effective. I understand they are different style players
It’s almost like people are saying shite,
Just to say shite.
Dude has better RB coaches than you could ever imagine. What makes you think you’re more qualified to critique his style of play than they are? It’s just an absurd assertion on your part

When an offense is running a gap blocking play. It's generally helpful to hit the hole fast because the hole is the hole. On a counter or power, a running back might need to wait for the blocker to lead, but the hole is the hole.
LSU runs a lot of zone. One of the big advantages of running zone is it gives the running back the option of taking the ball where the defense is not. Generally, that means that the running back will bang, bend, or bounce. (The hole is not called; the hole is not the hole.) Making the right decision means the running back has to see where the defense is going and that takes patience.
It appeared to me that Clemson was generally overplaying the run. Clemson's overplay gave Durham the opportunity to bend. Bending, however, takes patience.

He is exactly the same size as Emmitt Smith, but faster

Only one run that I remember I had issue with, which was when he danced around to try and bounce it outside setting up a 3rd and 1 when he could’ve gone straight and picked up the first.

Quick passes out wide serve same purpose for the run/pass game. We have backup RBs if we need, but utilize your athletes.
On top of that…LSU is on another level with our personnel vs everyone else. We can have a scenario where our guys are Brown, Bauer, Green, Zavion, Durham
As a defense, what do you put out there? You play nickel we can go 2 TE 2 RB and gash you. Bring in extra backer and we spread you out. There is no team in the country that can’t dictate a defense like us. And we have a brilliant player at QB, we are about to take off

He's a good back with decent speed just doesn't have the elite acceleration that separates the great from the good. There's no burst. That said, many similar backs have had long careers and made lots of money in the NFL.

What’s absurd is you think coaches don’t critique their players. If Durham played perfectly there would be no need for a coach. But you don’t look at things as in depth as a coach does so you don’t see it and don’t have a clue what you are talking about.

Harlem Berry getting his only carry of the game on a 2-min style situation with 3:21 remaining in the 1H made absolutely no sense.
I'd imagine we'll get a nice run of him this weekend, but made absolutely no sense some of the subs.

I think Durham looked exactly like what we saw last year which is an elite running back.
He is elite. I called him a stud. And his patience works very well on some plays, but there are those where we need less of that and just use his acceleration. But it may just be he doesn’t have that skill set.

He has 10.25 & 10.49 100m high school times lol

The way I saw it: if he woulda just put his head down, there were a few (3-5) rushes he coulda got 3-5 which woulda been better than the 1 to -1 he got by being ‘patient’ for the long gainer.
Not a criticism, just an area where he can improve…

I tell you one thing I saw that I really liked:
He finishes runs.
He'll give a little burst right at the end. Sometimes it results in him falling forward for a few extra yards. Sometimes he lays a lick.
But either way, if he gets N-S he finishes the run.

I’m late to this party, but it seemed like Caden missed some holes/lanes and left some yardage out there. Also, it looks like he’s put on some weight, to carry the load I assume. But he looked a step slower than last year

Later in the game he did look slower. I think he has put on weight (all good? mix of bad and good?) and it showed by getting worn down. He also 20 touches and I noticed was put out in routes a 'fair' amount without touches/targets. That contributed to that even though not excessive.

"Nothing someone says before the word 'but' really counts."

I get what you are saying but he is also running behind a entire new OL. Give a few games, I have no doubt the longs are there waiting to happen.

I won't say "that's all you need to know" but that is almost all you need to know.
