I knew we were in trouble when they said Canada was holding back most of the playbook against BYU. Yes, we ran well, but it didn't look much different that the Les/Cam offense, except for some motion.
It's a new offense and we need game practice of all facets of that offense. Keeping the "secret playbook" hidden is nonsense.
I'm guessing if we didn't see it in the first couple games, it doesn't exist.

Etling is not a spread QB and from what I can see neither is Brennan.
-------------------------------------------------------------
What have you even seen of Brennan to make that statement? 4 series of mop up in two games? All Brennan ran for 4 years of HS ball was the 4 and 5 wide spread from the shot gun. He threw the ball 40-50 times a game. The spread was all he ever played. LSU does not run the spread!!!! When is the last time LSU went with an empty backfield, 5 wide spread from numbers to numbers and let the QB sling it for an entire series of downs? If for no other reason than to just make the defense have to defend something other than #5 right, #28 left..

Esminger calling the plays we increased our production dramatically. Remember when we were averaging 40 pts a game?
I agree. Also you may notice some dissatisfaction with the running backs and Guice in particular. Last year he was breaking long runs. With this offense, even with all the movement the defenseive guys are staying put and are not fooled.

I got Ensminger too... much better!
Canada = Mickey Mouse (good D will squash it)... like we just saw!

The Esminger offense, with a few wrinkles, was the Cameron offense with a developing Etling. Offense was bad against Auburn and Wisconsin prior to the firing but both of those defenses ended up top 10 in the country.
I think the biggest concern is the falloff in big plays in the running game this year. Say what you want about Cameron's passing game woes/QB development at LSU but his offenses have always put up really big rushing numbers with explosive plays in the run game wherever he's been.

I wanted Ensminger to be OC that morning after it was announced Kragthorpe was stepping down before it was announced Stud was taking over. Feels good to have nailed that.

Play calling in 2nd half sucked! Maybe....
Ensminger would surely have run a draw or screen pass just to keep the D-line and D-backs honest. Etling cannot or did not scramble when pressured. If you spread 'em out and have a mobile QB like State good things can happen. We played right into their defense in 2nd half. Canada's play calling was not the issue. Etling's lack of escapability and willingness to run was IMHO along w the dropped passes. It was just a bad game for our Tigers. We are much better than that and I'm sure we will prove as season progresses. We are now well below the radar.....
