That's the only thing that worries me in the least about this. I don't know what to make of a star RB who's been dreaming of a 4 yard TD run against Sam Houston State since he was 15.

To be honest, people would find a reason to bash him if he didn't do it. For example, he ran for only 18 yards against Wisconsin and there were people talking about that as well. Whenever you put high expectations on someone like that, there will always be those out there who will want them to fall. Yes, Fournette added some fuel to the fire, but it was already lit before the day he stepped on the field for LSU.

Songy will ask every caller who calls his show tomorrow what they thought of it and he will ask if it was planned or not. He will probably open his show with some bullshite song referring to the situation.

That's a fact, Jack.

How many people are actually wanting him to fall? Because for the last week I've seen people chastised for "bashing him" and more simply for suggesting that 18 yards against Wisconsin was not enough of a performance to warrant awarding him the next 4 Heismans on the spot. Expressing skepticism at ridiculous expectations that have not yet been (and are already failing to be) met is not in any way, shape or form even remotely similar to disparaging, demeaning or treating in any way negatively.

Until someone says, "he is not good" or "he'll never be good," then there is zero reason for anyone to suggest he's being bashed or treated negatively in any way (in terms of his play or ability). When people chastise him for acting silly with a dumb Heisman pose, that's not bashing him or treating him negatively in any way that is not entirely appropriate to a kid acting silly with a dumb Heisman pose. No one (that I've seen) is calling him a bad person or a bad running back.

He's just a really talented kid that hasn't shown a lot at the highest level of college football yet and made a dumb decision. How about we just treat him like one of those?

And then when he's a two-time Heisman Trophy winner who has shattered all the LSU, SEC and NCAA rushing records, how about we treat him like one of those?

I've seen it a few times on here and maybe on the SEC Rant. But you're right. That's why this should be a dead subject and let's look forward to seeing the team against UL-Monroe.

Pat was in his third year playing a good West Virginia game having an awesome night! It was dumb of Fournette to do that when he hadn't shown much of anything to warrant that kind of attention.

So when PP7 did it, it was cool, and for LF7, not cool, because you or the talking idiots on Sports Center say so?

It obviosly wasn't a good idea, because CLM didn't approve, and LF should have known that. Other than that, what's the big deal? Most touchdown celebrations beyond the usual hand slaps and body bumps are ill advised simply because they're dumb. Obviously he hasn't done anything yet to warrant actual Heisman discussion.

CLM should be able to run his team and have them conduct themselves the way he wants, and if he want's to get bent out of shape, that's his right. The rest of us should relax and get a sense of humor.

lmao it was his first TD, and he is 18 years old. There has to be something else ESPN could be reporting on...I'm sure Michael Sam went to the restroom today, we'll have an insider report on that tomorrow.

This. I can't stand when people trip all over each other trying to beat everyone else to the top of the PC pile.

notice later in the game at the goal line they put kenny hilliard at the fullback spot with fournette at runningback and handed it to kenny for the score, i wonder if that was a lesson from Les Miles to Fournette

Why would you want them to anchor this? If the purpose of this thread is to call out ESPN for overdoing the coverage, what good would it do to silence the opposition?

Not to mention the last two Heisman winners are douchbags. God forbid a freshman strike the sacred pose in celebration. If it wouldn't be a penalty I wish he would do it every time he scores the next 3 yrs! How is it any worse than throwing up money signs and waving his hand over his head

ESPN is garbage. look at the SEC network bunch of people blowing everyone's dick at Alabama left and right.. I am so sick of them. All they talk about is alabama. This is dumb story, kid made gesture he has alot of confidence and I hope he tears is it up this year because all we are going to hear is that he is biggest bust in the world.

I am sure Good Ole Paul from the SEC network can't wait to talk about this tomorrow. His show is sucks!!

So far from what I have seen, I am not overly impressed with Fournette. I am old enough to remember Hershel Walker, Bo Jackson, and Emmitt Smith as freshmen in the SEC and he isn't close to them. Just saying he looks stiff and he is not explosive like they were.

because 20-25 years ago it wouldn't have happened. Kids want everyone to notice "them" now. He's no Jeremy Hill, and will never be. I'm more impressed with Williams at this point.

Oh and Keiland Williams

first game - 2 rushes for 14 yards
2nd game - 2 rushes for 1 yard
3rd game - 0 rushes
4th game - 5 rushes for 17 yards
5th game - 0 rushes
6th game - 0 rushes
7th game - 8 rushes for 47 yards
8th game - 6 rushes for 51 yards

23 for 130 yards for 5.6 ypc

Fournette through 2 games:
21 for 110 for 5.2 ypc rushing
2 rec for 32 yards
6 kick returns for 139 yards

Thank you for proving to the board that you are an idiot.

Oh and Jeremy Hill's True Freshman Stats -

Well, we know the story.

So when comparing Hill to Fournette it will be Fournettes sophomore season compared to Hills first year actually playing.

But, I'll humor you anyways. Through first six games of Hills career 13 carries for 70 yards

You suspect!

it was the kids first collegiate td - pretty big deal for anyone. I agree with those saying that espn and other talking heads are making way too much of this. Sure it was silly but hardly a reason to skewer the kid and make this a character issue for crying out loud! There are far worse things that athletes do and come under less scrutiny than this.
