Real 70ish and outdated on the outside , but good enough on the inside.

I absolutely love the PMAC. There are certainly problems with it, but in the grand scheme of things, it is a great facility that I wish was able to hold more events (concerts).
I worked there for a year in undergrad and the bones are pretty rough, but every seat is good. The size is good.

re-purpose the PMAC as the home of volleyball and gymnastics.

great post
the bball haters- yeah ignore them
ive been to a half dozen other sec arenas , some being ten years ago however. the pmac is nice, the biggest problem is the lack of asses in the seats. point simple.
it is amazing to me how people demand so much yet the arena is always empty on game nights.
people say "no suites!!!"
how many of these fricktards would buy a suite?
lsu basketball is one of the most fun economical ways to have family fun. I wish I wasnt two hours away or I would be there more.

We are so fortunate to have the PMAC. When packed for a big game the noise is deafening. Why change? It just needs to be upgraded to meet 2015 standards such as luxury boxes if we can sell them. Upgrade the exterior to be Purple and Gold and slap the eye of the Tiger on the roof. Amazing facility for as old as it is.

I'd say if there was anything that could be easily improved with the PMAC it would either be some form of cupholders or an improved video board. They upgraded the sound recently and that is good. Other than that, it's the possiblity of moving the media section and making the Student section the entire behind the basket. Would be much better.

Haven't read all the posts, but next time you're in there, look at the ceiling. There are panels coming off, half the lights don't even have covers. The scoreboard is one of the worst in all of the sec. If lsu spent $5 for a new scoreboard snd just change the paneling on the inside, it would be a solid venue

I agree. An open concourse, ribbon boards, premium seating, updated score board, and a traditional exterior facade would be great
My buddy absolutely loves the PMAC too but his attention to detail (or lack thereof) & the fact that he hasn't been to any other basketball arena is limiting
This thread reminds me when Alleva announced we were going to replace the windows on Tiger Stadium's north endzone a few years ago. A big group of people on here didn't want the broken windows replaced.

Yea, apparently people took my post as some crazy hatred for the PMAC. It's got a great atmosphere when there's people in there...but could use some enhancements to bring people in. All I was saying.

I think the P-Mac is fine as well

I don't really buy this. People want to see a consistent winner. That and that alone will get asses in the seats. I don't think the gaudy, late-60's architecture and lack of suites are keeping people away.

Ever been to Fogg Fieldhouse at Kansas? It's as old as God and looks like an uber sized HS gym. But the fans value the old school feel and tradition of the venue. So,entires throwing huge money at tear downs and building new is not what is is needed to improve the fan experience.
I embrace the PMAC and all its goofy charm...even the flying saucer look from the outside. Administration has to maintain and protect it as if it is cherished like Tiger Stadium. We don't need private suites. We need ceiling tiles fixed, a first class video board, and I like the idea of the roof painted as the eye of the tiger.

Who the frick cares about Suites? Its a basketball game you will be in and out in an hour and a half. The people saying it needs suites, are the people that will never even sniff a suite, yet the want them in the arena? The people that would have a suite there already have sidleine seats.

It's old and outdated.... Needs a major overhaul.
I don't even understand what that means.
Should we tear down Tiger Stadium because it's 'old and outdated'?
You remind me of those women on those house buying shows. They walk into a perfectly good kitchen and say, "Oh, this is horrible, I'll have to tear everything out and 'update' it." WTF? The PMAC does what it's supposed to do, and does it well. Why waste money and resources on rebuilding something that still works well?
And to the person complaining about 'atmosphere', you obviously didn't attend the LSU-Loyola Marymount game back in 1990. That game proves that atmosphere is more about the asses in the seats and the product on the court than anything materially wrong with the PMAC itself.
I just find it the height of absurdity to tear down a perfectly good structure, that it serving its purpose well, just to 'upgrade' for the sake of upgrading.

I like most things about the PMAC except for the legroom. I'm 6'2 and if there's anyone sitting in front of or besides me my legs have no where to go except the seat in front. I know most arenas are becoming that way, but it's moderately annoying

I agree with you once again.
