Florida, on the other hand, could turn out like last years Georgia.

Except that Florida isn't just a great QB and RB. They have all the pieces. They proved it last year. Search my post history. I was the guy (as were many) saying that Florida would be better than Georgia last year. I sure as hell ain't saying that Florida is overrated/hyped this year.

I can't believe a Nole fan was the first person to bring up the X factor to the Gators offence this year, which is Andre Dubose. This kid (mark it down)will be the next Percy Harvin.

I hate all the hype. It's good for recruiting, however it must be hard not to get a little complacent. I prefer last year when Georgia was in the spotlight and we lie in the shadows just waiting.

I am also looking foward to our game in LSU. Your stadium is awesome and the atmosphere is truly unique (piss bombs and all). We are going to try to be there with a group of friends and take a party bus from NO to BR for the game.

but Georgia's defense was terrible last year. Yall will have the best one in college football. I don't see UF being anything like UGA was last year with Tebow on offense and that defense returning.

There is going to come a point in the season where you will have to be lucky to the win a game. Last year, it went against yall with Ole Miss. This year hopefully that game will be LSU.

I'm not afraid of them but they deserve our respect. Their rushing duo is going to give us fits. Their offense is probably the most versatile in the NCAA this year. If their OC is at least halfway decent, UF should average at least 40 points/game this year!

There is not any hopefully about it. LSU is going to be a huge contest for florida. I think LSU can pull it out also, a saturday night in death vally can do wonders. People are going to be unbelievably jacked for that game. It is going to be a great game either way, and if both UF and LSU are both undefeated at that point... well you know the rest. I can't wait!

The Week before in UGA if we just flat out kill UGA somehow(like win by 2 TDs), I will be super confident heading back home to face Florida. And if we can do that without Crowton having to show what tricks he has up his sleeve I will be even more pumped. Because UGA is the only test before we face FLorida. We really shouldnt have to use all of our schemes against UW, Vanderbilt, ULL and such. We could be just as mysterious an offense to stop as Florida will be.

the question no one is asking is:

will florida be hungry? that question won't be answered until after the season starts. look at every champ of pretty much any sport at pretty much any level. there is almost always a dropoff the year after winning it all, regardless of who is on the roster.

plus other things already mentioned: injuries and plain luck (which florida didn't have in the ole miss game last year).

Look all I know is we have to beat Florida. Atleast in the game that counts (if we make it to ATL). My roommate is obsessed with Florida. I get up-to-the-minute updates on Florida recruiting, practices, and likelyhood of them winning back-2-back NC's. I'd shoot him if he wasn't my best friend or paying half the rent.

He also loves to remind me who was the only team LSU lost to in our 2003 championship run... yep. I got it man. Thanks.

I don't know about afraid, but anybody would be crazy not to think they're going to be incredibly tough to beat. They have an offense that is essentially unstoppable if they want to be (i.e. letting Tebow run) and a defense that is very good, very fast and very experienced.

Just because LSU didn't play its best in last years game and Florida played pretty close to beyond its best,

Beyond its best? I disagree. They played pretty much like that for the rest of the regular season. The SECCG and NCG were probably their two worst games after that, and they still won both by double digits over top ranked opponents.

Ordinarily, that would be a valid concern, but I think Tebow is the difference maker here. Yes, I know we're all sick and tired of hearing Tebow this and Tebow that and what a super amazing football player/leader/circumciser/etc. he is, but I really do think he's one of those rare players who are hyped to hell and back but still live up to every ounce of it. I think he's hungry for an undefeated season, and I think he'll keep their team focused on that goal. I'm just glad this year is the last time (or two) that we'll have to face him.

When is the last time a preseason No. 1 SEC team finished No. 1? I can't think of one. This is a tough mental situation for UF players and coaches.

I sat in Tiger Stadium in Oct '97 as LSU beat the preseason #1 and highly favored Gators. It could easily happen again. This is one game where you really don't know what will happen. '97, '01, '03, '06, '07, '08 ?? were all surprises to me. You just never know.

2 reasons:
1.) the entire two deep on a national championship defense returns
2.) Tim Tebow's leadership

other than that, they are poo

Debose doesn't live that far away from me. I know he is a good football player. FSU tried to get him.

I hate to say it but the UF defense was young last year and they are all back.

LSU and UGA have a shot at beating the gators but they could well be undefeated when FSU comes to Gainesville and it would be ironic if a team that went wire to wire once is trying to stop UF from doing the same.

I expect FSU go give you a game this year though. Fisher has commented we can actually pass block this year.

Florida Hype

Maybe this thread should be renamed to "Florida Complex"...I can't believe LSU fans are devoting so much time on a non-division opponent! I mean this thread has already made it to 7 pages!!! The Les Miles car/truck debate has only made what? 3 or 4 pages, and I found a lot more thought provoking insight there than here!

This thread sounds a lot like some school boys all talking tough about the Big Bully...but after school, when said bully arrives...everyone clams up ..... or runs away.
