Miles makes the game plan...thus the play calling and practice all week accordingly

you dont think Miles tells them the overall strategy? You dont think they have meetings before the game where he outline show the game should go?

If course he determines the strategy, but that IS NOT calling the plays, which was the question. SIGH!

It was shitty execution not necessarily shitty plays....but I also remember seeing a shitty defense

Perhaps the issue was we had the wrong QB in there, which was Cams call as the OC n QB coach.

Because the offensive staff has changed completely multiple times, 3 OC, 2 diff o line, 3 diff wr coaches, 2 diff rb coaches, play calling has been shite every year except in crow tons first year and last year.the only reason he couldn't use the same style of running the QB every play last year was because mett can't run worth a shite.

Does Miles make the OL miss their blocks, so that when only rushing 3 they still hurry our QB?

Does Miles make Diarse NOT stretch his arms or leap for the ball?

Does Miles make our defense arm tackle in the open field and not wrap up?

Does Miles make our front 4 unable to get separatiion from opponent's OL and put little pressure on their QB?

no he doesn't i get the point

so tell me, at what point does the best coach ever at LSU gather his very highly paid coaching staff up and start coaching in a manner that keeps this from happening.
it isn't just first year players doing it.
are the players not the kind that can be coached? if that's the case then shame on the staff.

Here is my reasoning: We have had three different coordinators from 3 extremely different coaching styles, yet we have seen the same exact formations and playcalls from all 3 of them. That just seems very interesting or coincidental

All this means is Les defines the philosophy. I don't think there are many people that actually think Les is calling every play, but he does dictate the philosophy, which includes practice and the game. Sure, Les calls a play every now and then, but it's not every down.

That's what's so frustrating with Les. Let Cam have more control of the gameplan. He shouldn't impose his will on the scheme so much.

Or run that lame option MSU stuffed at the goal line. Cameron doesn't call shite like that.
He ran it with Antwon at Indy.

Jimbo Fisher when asked about LSU losing to Auburn in 05 RESPONDED, IF Les Miles wouldn't have taken the play calling away from me, LSU would have won the game BY 3 TOUCHDOWNS

I don't think he calls the plays. I do think he restricts the playbook to a pre-determined template of down and distance options from which the OC can choose from.

And he, as most coaches do, reserves the right to overrule calls, which he does occassionally.

What makes you think this, other than the plays themselves?

He never has a playsheet (that I've seen), yet Cam does. Does he just have fantastic memory? Hard to come to the conclusion he's actually calling the plays if you watch him.

The way this normally works is usually Thurs or Fri, HC and OC draft 20 or so scripted plays to start the game with, along with audibles.
From success or lack there of, they have D&D plays to chose from if the next scripted play doesn't fit.
So it usually is a set plan to see if your scheme can be executed vs opponent. If it's working ok they may go through the playsheet again, or if bad edit or even abandon it.

There is a lot of talking between the staff during a game and input from HC, OC, and WR, OL, RB coaches, some of whom are in the booth, and the DC can also give very good info on what the D is doing against what you run.
It's not one man ruling with an iron fist like most think, but Miles surely has some input, and it's won a lot of games over 9 years.

RunItAgainRunitAgain

This is the problem!! Les does say RUN IT AGAIN! RUN IT AGAIN!! and he preplans about 25 plays they will run before the game and they do not deviate from that! Its pathetic! He needs to take that headset OFF!

Most offenses do this, if you're talking about rerun a successful play. Run the play until opp stops it, then run a constraint play.

If you mean rush again, rush again is the playsheet, well the 2nd drive was 3 or 4 pass attempts and punt.
