yeah i was just asking cause some friends were discussing it and we all had the same understanding. maybe it is that we have one permanent team forever? lol

We had two permanent opponents from 92-01 (Kentucky was the other) and in 02 it went to one permanent. The change caused some scheduling oddities as we had to play at Kentucky two years in a row but had ole miss at home those two years.

the SEC does the schedule for ten year periods. it was last done in 2002 and, thus, must be redone for 2012.
here is a recent article in the Advocate that discusses it: SEC Schedule
for the first 10 years (1992-2002) we had two permanent opponents (UF and UK); for the next ten years (2002-2012) it was changed to one permanent; doesn't look like it will change this time, based on the article.

ok so it just needs to be renewed rather than we change 10 year opponents.

But they will not change the permanent opponents because of the dipshits at Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, and Georgia. They are the reason we even have a permanent opponent to begin with.
Why is this a negative? Part of the reason the Big 12 is such a garbage conference is because they didn't preserve the OU-Nebraska game.
I like the fact that they kept those rivalries intact. In addition, Florida-LSU has been a top 15 matchup each of the last 6 years. I like the fact that we get to play them every year.

i dont think its a bad thing at all.

Nothing about that link suggests permament opponent changes.
Or that ANYTHING changes for that matter.
It is just the end of a cycle.
You probably think that 2012 is the end of the world too, rather than just the end of a cycle.

its called the 5-2-1 plan. you play the 5 teams in your division, 2 rotating opponents home and home, and then 1 permanent team for the ten years. that way everyone plays everyone in a ten year span in at least a home and home
More specifically, under this plan, each team plays every other team at least once in 4 year span, and visits every other team at least once in a 5 year span.
Before 2002, it was a total mess, and deprived the fans of some good interdivisional games. We didn't play Tennessee from 1993 to 2000, for example.

The Big 12 is garbage because it is total garbage outside of 3 or 4 teams. It has nothing to do with Oklahoma and Nebraska having to go two years without playing each other.

i dont mind playing florida every year. its a great rivalry where the game means something. i do like the home and home with the other teams as well. i just thought that after 10 years it all changed. now i know

Don't disagree with that at all. Just thought it was stupid of them to bring together all of these geographically diverse schools, yet not keep OU-Nebraska as a permanent game. It'll be an even more worthless conference once Nebraska bolts.

i know next year is the last year that we play florida every year in the new system.
Is not a question

You were mistaken/wrong. No biggie.
No need to overcompensate by acting all e-badass because someone pointed out the fallacy in the logic and happened to started looking into it/making a reply before someone else answered it
