But then I'd have given the same answer in 2008 when it felt like the wheels had come off...but had not.

Dude, I hate to break it to you but this isn't 2008.

Here's my take on it. Any program, LSU or otherwise that has a 12 year run of success in todays game of college football, should count themselves fortunate. The days of Paterno and Bryant are over. The game is rapidly changing in terms of on field strategy and off field recruiting.

That being said, it was a great ride and if Les can right the ship next season........ awesome. If not, it will be time to rebuild. All the arguments about his past records is faulty based on the fact that the game has evolved.

FOR GOD'S SAKES, NO ONE PLAYED DEFENSE IN THE ENTIRE SEC LAST SATURDAY. Evolve are be eaten.

We know that how? The point is that LITERALLY since the man was hired there have been plenty of LSU fans that have not been on board with him. I get not being happy about a particular hire, but at some point anyone with any bit of intellectual honesty would have been able to muster a, "Well...he may be goofy and I don't like the style be play, but we are winning more now than ever...so I guess he's ok."

Look around...the guy has simply never even gotten that much from some of our fans.

And in 2008 when we were down to a RS Freshman QB who seemed to get paid to throw pick 6's and a true freshman QB with no QB's ability the future looked pretty fricking bleak. Did anyone see 2010 and 2011 coming in 2008? Hell no...and many of the same one's bitching now were bitching to have him fired then. It's why so many missed the joy of the 2011 season because instead of being able to enjoy that historic run they were too busy complaining about HOW LSU was winning.

Well...that's pretty rational. Kudos.

I don't anyone is suggesting otherwise...I'm not. All coaches, even the greatest ones either quit before it happened to them or waited too long and it did, but they all reach a point where newer more innovative coaches come in and move beyond them. Is that time at hand?

Maybe. If I were making the decision (and I'm not) Miles would get this season to "rebuild" and have serious discussions with me about potential changes to the staff in order to prevent the same thing happening in 2015. There would be very little leash in 2015 for what we've seen thus far. At LSU we simply have far too much invested in the program to have sustained ACTUAL mediocrity or worse. Two like what looks possible for this season would be enough to reluctantly make the change for me.

I agree...and it's my only real worry.

No one is shooting down his past success. But, Bobby Knight sunshine pumpers could point to the same thing at one point...then it was too late. Indiana still hasn't recovered. When the time comes, it comes. You have to open your mind and eyes to see it.

Les is still more for me!! No one can lose 25 juniors over 5 years without damage being done.

Agree! Just stop it with the "fire Les" crap. He is still considered a "winning" Coach. Once again, IF (and I said "if") he were to get fired, who do you think we could get that can come in behind Saban (like Les did) and win, win, win? So, who would it be all you geniuses? Remember, this coach would have to do as least as well as CLM his first year which I think Les was 11-2, right??? So, come on, names please!

People are laughing at LSU. We have become a complete joke. If you don't think so, move out of the state of Louisiana

Mucho respect for you, TM. I couldn't agree more.

And I live out of state, LSU is far from a laughing stock. People are scared to death of next year.

Coach Miles may have sat idly as the game passed him by......time will tell. But even though a goodly portion of my fall joy is directly proportionate to LSU's success, he has won enough games in the past to earn a pass from me in 2014. I would love to see a graph that showed the relationship between a fan's age and their tolerance of a sub par season from CLM. I could be wrong, but if be willing to bet that a vastly disproportionate number of the "fire Miles now" group didn't experience the dark ages through which fans my age suffered.

To put THAT decline in perspective, season tickets sales fell from their all time high of 66,000 during the Arnsnarger years to a mere 30,000 by the end of Curley's reign.

If you weren't there, you do not understand how miserable football season can be.

Obligatory "get off my lawn".
