Unfortunately the ultimate tweener. Needs to be runstuffing safety but lacks ability to run w tight ends and backs. Just take what u get and be happy.

He needs to be playing where he most benefits LSU. The NFL can play him where he fits there.

So tell me, from what you’ve seen, he’s a legit ILB as of now? Maybe if he has more discipline and “focus” as Kelly said, he can play the position and be totally effective but as of now, he overplays his gaps and creates big cutback lanes. That’s why you are seeing good inside runs against LSU. He’s not disciplined himself, obviously if he does, he’ll be great coupled with his off the charts athleticism.

Kid is QUICK and FAST for his size. How many times in ‘22 did we see him run down, from behind, a QB or RB on completely the opposite side of the field from the edge he was playing. You would think the coaches could find him somewhere on defense to use him more effectively.

He doesn't fit any position within the defense. He's basically a situational pass rusher.

He’s a freak athlete.
Move him to safety or to the offensive side of the ball. Since he’s not producing on defense now, you lose nothing. And possibly gain at RB.

Safety all day that can’t cover…have him at the line rushing on second and third downs
Not going to help his draft status but will help lsu rush a free man

Put him at the star and start Weeks at ILB or start the other Weeks

dude should be having a Micah Parson type impact for us...
Perkins is 6’ 1” and 225 pounds. He’s not an every down LOS player. At this point, I think he would be best taking Major Burns’s place. Bring in Whit Weeks and let Perkins play in space. He generally does well in coverage.

Which is how we used him in 2022. He’s really a 4-3 WLB but we don’t run that however we do use the star position as a WLB at times and we do have some 3LB sets vs bigger personnel so he can be your space LB there as well. On obvious passing downs you rush him over the RT where he wins at a very high rate. This isn’t rocket science it’s stubbornness.

He should be playing a roving Safety. He gets lost at LB.
At safety he can use his speed and ball skill talents much more effective for LSU defense. He is basically useless at LB if they run at him .

It's baffling that coaches who have coached college football for decades are dumber than the average casual LSU fan.

So why do you need to invent a baseless narrative to defend them? The ranter favorite infallible coach fallacy strikes again.

A middle linebacker is only as good as the interior Dline he plays behind.
You can't expect him to play at a high level if lineman are constantly getting to him at the 2nd level of the defense.
I bet Aranda would know what to do with him. HP7 and Patrick Queen are literally the same size. (6'0 225)

I didn't, I just think it's amazing how the casual fans here can see all of the best players are sitting on the bench and already know how to fix every issue with this team.

You did, not once has any coach claimed he was too small to rush or couldn’t play his old position yet you push this false narrative constantly and use it to defend your argument which you cannot defend with facts. The production clearly shows where’s he’s most effective yet you argue otherwise using flat out false claims to support that argument.

He isn't too small to rush from the edge from time to time, he's too small to be an every down edge player.
If you don't believe that fact, then I don't know what to tell you. The Georgia and Texas A&M games from 2022 should be plenty of evidence, if you actually know football as much as you claim.

Are you suggesting I’m saying to line him up at DE? Nobody’s saying that and you continue to use the ATM game as evidence against him when it isn’t. Again you can pull your stunts with some people but I’ve already rewatched all those games so I know you really are just reaching and don’t know what actually happened in those games pertaining to Perkins.
