Does anyone know if the NCAA has looked into recruiting violations with Smart or Reid? Is it all speculation or has anything really been done?

The media owes Will Wade an apology

I believe the NCAA told LSU Smart could play but no, there has been no official indication of an investigation.
Arizona, Kansas, and Louisville all received notices though

interesting. IfLSU and Joe the blowme Alleva allowed him (smart)to play after their their meeting. Their probably isn't anything to this other than news reporting. Ok now I feel like I have been living under a rock.

On another note. The Defense rested today and closing arguments are set to begin tomorrow, which means that there will be no additional evidence entered in this case...

That’s basically what I was asking

Any competent leader would have simply put out a statement saying we take the reports very seriously and will continue to monitor the situation closely. And then let it play out, Gather the facts and assess where things are. The knee jerk reaction by administration was complete incompetence.

That's what LSU did this time around..... it's what should have been done previously as well.

I would almost understand it if LSU had zero idea something like that was coming but there had been rumors for a year. How do you not have a contingency plan for that kind of thing.

Jay Bilas whining on ESPN saying “what else do you have to see” to Arizona and LSU tells me he realizes nothing of significance is gonna happen now.
His loud mouth stance on all of this baffles me.
On one hand, he is one of the loudest critics of the NCAA in advocating that players should get paid or make money off their likeness.
However, on the other hand, he is one of the loudest critics complaining about players being paid under the table.
I get that there is an obvious moral dilemma here and that the rules are what they are, and people should follow them until the rules say otherwise. But if you are going to be one of the loudest advocates for players getting paid, then shouldn't you on some level be fine with the fact they are getting paid, regardless if it is under the table?

They just want some blood for all their whining about this. If all they get is Pitino, who's actually a made man, then they feel like they failed.

This sounds like a terrific strategy for the long term interests of LSU as an institution. If you start to notice an impact on LSU as an institution that you can specifically tie to this, please point it out. Betcha won't.
Alleva fired?

There was no warrant to record WW. The warrant was for Christian Dawkins. Neither the tape nor the supposed transcript are germaine to the case unless WW's name is redacted. In fact, Wade's name should never have been released.
The real question for us LSU MBB fans is this: will the NCAA punish without having any evidence in hand? There is a disagreement about whether the NCAA can do that now, but they can conduct their own investigation like they did on Javonte Smart.
Wade and LSU could sue for the release of his name, could they not?

Once you do that, it's a slippery slope on all other rules you approve of breaking, if you don't agree with them. That turns into chaos.

For a different perspective, if Alleva would not have f'ed up the Wade situation so greatly, he may still be the AD!
Hoping that we can make lemonade out of this by being able to keep Wade, having gotten rid of some refuse, and getting a wonderful new AD!

As an attorney myself, I completely get that. And I'm not saying he should approve of it.
But to yell FOUL from the rooftops when there is only innuendo and speculation there, and not hard evidence (especially for an attorney to do that), just seems odd from someone who wants to see players make money anyway.
