I've always thought that only having the band play sets us apart from the other wannabes and is FAR AND AWAY a better atmosphere. I hate the NFL feel.
Agreed. The best thing about any college football game is the whole atmosphere, the band playing instead of random songs over the PA system is part of that atmosphere!

Let's keep this at the top.

The music is crap and too loud.
Now if they want to play some old LSU songs that the band doesn't that would be fine.

I have to agree here...
at the phenomenal Florida game last year, they piped in "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi when Hester was about to go for one of his crucial 4th downs
Did they really? I sure as hell didn't hear it .. but then I couldn't hear much!

Agreed, but this thread is about piped in music. Lets try to stay on topic.

When at other SEC stadiums, I used to think to myself "why doesn't LSU play Ozzie's 'Crazy Train', AC/DC's 'Thunder', Ramones 'Blitzkrieg Bop', Blur's Song '#2,' etc..?
But after hearing it at Tigerstadium last night, a few things come to mind..
1. Tigerstadium doesn't have speakers but at one end of the stadium and it sounds like a broken jambox, TS needs more and larger speakers for a surround sound effect.
2. The songs chosen are same staples used at Fla, Aub, Bama, USC, Tenn,etc..thus generic..of which only bothers me when I experienced it in Tigerstadium..and yet enjoyed at other SEC venues..thus obviously I expect higher standards for Tigerstadium..or just not used to it yet?
3.Tradition, as much as I have had issue with "strirring renditions" of some piece from 1883, I have enjoyed when the LSU Band busts out some Green Day, Parliament Funkadelic,etc..and prefer them to the busted jambox.
And as much as previsouly not liking Bama and other SEC schools piping in their band's sounds and cheerleaders with speakers and volume, it does work and have an effect, and maybe LSU should explore such? But will need new a audio setup first.

Since we wont be getting a new audio system, let get rid of the piped music all together.

plus our band can play songs such as Crazy Train already...no need to pipe it in

Great idea....
Wait, piped in music is for when the band can't play or isn't ready to play. I'd much rather awkward silence....OR BETTER YET, our cheerleaders doing something gay like "2 bits".
When you e-mail the AD, make sure to tell them your an uninformed dumbass as well. That'll really help your case.

Idiot. They piped music in during every quarter after every touchdown. The band was sitting there listening to the trash, and it just ruined the atmosphre. Try paying attention next time.

100% agreed. Please get rid of the piped music.
