Until Derek Dooley exhibits this level of complete and utter stupidity week-in and week-out, then he will not be treated like someone who does (i.e., Les Miles).

The Dooley blew the game ya'll don't know shite about coaching, Miles is a dumb arse for Saturday. But Dooley blew the game by going for it on fourth down. If he tries to pin us deep it's game over. And then they end up with 13 men on the field. He is a dumb arse just like Miles. He is living off of his name period. Rantards

On top of not coming back for the extra point Dooley also tried to pick up the first on fourth and short on our 20 instead of kicking the FG which would have caused overtime to begin with. Tenn showed up to play but overal Dooley made so critical mistake. Miles owes him a drink

ARTICLE 3. a. A period shall be extended for an untimed down (other than
a try) if during a down in which time expires one or more of the following
occurs (A.R. 3-2-3-I-VIII):
1. A penalty is accepted for a live-ball foul(s) not treated as a dead-ball
foul (Exception: Rule 10-2-5-a). The period is not extended if the
statement of the penalty includes loss of down (A.R. 3-2-3-IX).
2. There are offsetting fouls.
3. An official sounds his whistle inadvertently or otherwise incorrectly
signals the ball dead.
b. Additional untimed downs (other than a try) will be played until a down
is free of the circumstances in statements 1, 2 and 3 of Rule 3-2-3-a
(above).

The way I read it... a PAT is not required, however.

If a touchdown is scored during a down in which time in the fourth period expires, the try shall not be attempted unless the point(s)would affect the outcome of the game.

The points would have affected the outcome if we botch the snap, have the kicked blocked, etc...and Tenn runs it back for two.

Dooley was lucky that we turned the ball over 4 times. He's a headset throwing crybaby who is living off his Daddys name. He's in the big leagues now and so far, he sucks. He has lost the respect I had for him when he was La. Techs coach. Quit crying. Quit throwing headsets. Don't try to rush your team off the field so the penalty doesn't stand and meet our coach to shake his hand asswipe. Go back to Tenn. and fix your headset and your defense and just hope you aren't the next Les Miles with all your coaching blunders. You got away with 10 men on the field the week prior to playing LSU, but you didn't learn from it coach. You lose.

He was given an unusually shitty set of circumstances upon arriving in Knoxville. If you don't think he is already a better coach than ours, you are delusional.

I can see the need for the team that just scored the TD to have a chance to kick the insuing PAT if the TD did not either tie or win the game... so I guess it works both ways. You learn something new everyday... even at 50!

How has he shown that he is worth a crap? Going for it on fourth down against one of the best run defenses in the nation? Putting 13 men on the field when the week prior he did the same thing but got away with a win against a bad team.
Tell me exactly what has he done to be called a good head coach? He should have made LSU line up for the extra point because Miles can't make good decisions when under pressure. He had one last chance for Miles to bail him out but he declined. Duck Fooley!

Dooley has shown or proven nothing outside of his LSU tenure (wen Saban was here). The dude will have a losing record in the SEC for the time when he is here. He might even do the unthinkable and break the Kentucky/Vandy record against Tennessee.

By managing to keep the game close when he was clearly over-matched and playing in hostile territory. There was a 17 point spread for a reason, and that is a big spread. He also hung with Florida until the fourth quarter, and played with Oregon for a half. His problem is lack of depth and experience, which is the opposite problem our coach has. In two to three years we are going to wish we had Dooley roaming our sideline

meh.. We can only go with records/stats for any and all coaches. Almost-wins, moral victories, depth is all just blah blah..

Tennessee got screwed with LK's timing and had to settle - doubt if he will be there for more than three years total.

Off the top of my head, you get only one point for that.

Incorrect. ANY extra point attempt that is returned by the defensive team counts TWO POINTS. It does not matter if it is a blocked kick that is returned or if it is an interception or fumble recover that is returned. IT COUNTS AS TWO POINTS FOR THE DEFENSIVE TEAM.

Seriously, what a crock of shite. Dooley didn't "coach" the 4 turnovers, which are the only reason they were in the game. There's a higher likelihood Dooley will never beat Miles.

Dooley had a choice: 1. have a young inexperienced 2nd string kicker kick a long field goal from the left hash and give the ball back to LSU with a 7 point lead and plenty of time on the clock (an earlier attempt was missed), or 2. Try to pick up a yard on 4th and 1, run the clock down, score a TD or at the very least get closer for the FG attempt and give the ball back to LSU with at least a 7 point lead and very little clock to work with. I agree with him when he said the reward was not worth the risk. Their last couple of drives were fairly productive so hell, go for it. He is a stand-up intelligent guy that seems to believe in accountability. I did not like the way he handled himself in the immediate aftermath of that debacle but changed my mind after I listened to his Monday morning presser.
