Hallman with his off the rack purple pants may have ended up having this combo permanently banned. Though I would prefer it over an all lsu gold combination if that was ever pushed in the future.

Again no resemblance to Oregon. All the uniforms LSU has worn this season have been permutations of our traditional uniform design and colors.

All gold was worn occasionally back in the day.
Here we have Pinky Rohm wearing it in an unknown game in 1937:
Here we see Y.A. Tittle's publicity photos from 1947, which also was in the all gold:
When Tittle died in 2017, LSU honored him by putting his all gold combination in a locker for the Auburn game that year:
When Dietzel recolored the gold from Old Gold to Sunflower, he did have a couple of games where he had the team wear them. Here is Billy Cannon wearing them for the 1957 Texas Tech game (note that the center stripe is lighter than the rest of the jersey):
I think I read somewhere that they didn't wear gold jerseys after the 1960 Florida game (a 13-10 loss where LSU claimed that Florida had taken QB Jimmie Fields' play wristband.)

Well, there is an annual gold game, and we don’t EVER wear gold jerseys for the gold game.

The gold game went away years ago. Our fans are too cool to participate in things like that.

Never wore purple pants under Hallman, and we never wore this combo. This is a terrible photoshop job in which pants have been re-colored. Look closely at the stripe.
LSU wore purple pants in a game during the 1st year of Coach Gerry DiNardo.
They wore them ONCE.
It was an away game at Kentucky, October 14, 1995, which we lost 16-24.
We have never worn purple pants since.
