Well I would think Peterson would not be a guy to get involved with this as I have heard he is all business for his career. That is at least what I have been told from a former player.

Dareus was supposed to be too. He had family members around him all the time trying to prevent this stuff. There was a "life story" printed about his youth in Birmingham recently, and how he had to just get through the next year, not associating with the "hanger-ons", and then he could provide for his family. Hopefully he can still do that, after this investigation is done. I hope he hasn't cost himself first round money.

When are they gonna start penalizing the agents instead of the schools and players

The agents don't work for the NCAA?

The NCAA has control over the athletics as a governing body and the players basically get a course in NCAA rules and prohibitions regarding agents. It's not illegal for the agents, however, it is unethical. Agents are basically the Wall Street for football in that their are no rules governing them.

they should think, they as in some gov't agency, about creating rules regulations and penalties to levy against these uncontrolled agents

Yes there is, there is a law in La. that says it is illegal for an agent to contact and/or give an athlete money that is enrolled at a College or University. I do not know what the penalty is for it but it more than likely is not enough to curtail a agent from doing what it takes for him to get his man because it could mean millions for the player and agent involved and there what lies the problem.
Until it starts costing the agents and the players themselves a lot of money for doing it at the wrong time then it will never stop. We all as fans needs to contact our Senators and State Represenatives about doing something about this. It is going to take a ground swell from the fans taking an active part into the problem with those who have the means of doing something about it.

I don't really feel sorry for the players as they are college students and should be responsible for themselves.

The state of Alabama has pretty stiff laws governing sports agents, going back 25 years to when Derrick McKey lost his last year of basketball eligibility.
Recently the Alabama attorney general prosecuted an agent that visited Tyrone Prothro in his hospital room, even though Prothro was never going to play again for Alabama.

What is stupid about this is that the agent can't help with the most important factor in the kids' future: draft slot. So, these guys taking trips on an agent's dime are risking millions to go to a party they will forget in 5 years.

I'm not really worried about it right now. LSU's program has been relatively clean on the NCAA's watch. At least Football that is. Every major program cheats in some way, its a matter of how obvious they make it and spit in the NCAA's face. Everyone knew how bad USC cheated and NCAA got tired of them spitting in their face.
I think its a fair assumption to make flagging UNC when all those $$$ decide to magically return for their NC. How many times do you see that in CFB? A NC is a good excuse but your program has to be worth a damn too. UNC didn't do that great even with all those studs on D last year.
So, the question remains, did they take benefits to stay? Especially with the looming Rookie salary cap likely to be implemented soon? 4 1st round picks staying on defense is a hell of a convincing job by the HC. Almost the entire starting D is projected in the draft right now.
IMO, LSU doesn't really have that kind of attention. We have some good athletes but who outside KS, PP are getting serious looks? Drake Nevis?

This whole thing sounds like it really has the potential to become a huge mess. It will be interesting to watch it all pan out but it seems like a lot of it has to do with the travel expenses. If so, it shouldn't be too hard to follow the paper trail... I can't say that I've ever paid for airfare with cash.

I think you call all of this Capitalism!!! The NCAA wants to be a Dictatorship trying to control Capitalism!!!!

The schools are not at fault. The players knew it was wrong to take anything from the agents.

it's not so much anything that LSU might have done. All it takes is one player to make a dumb greedy decision. I'm not saying LSU def has some guilty players, but I'm not naive enough to think LSU is immune to stupidity.

Especially just after a coach was let go and a player's scholarship rescinded because of similar mischeif.

So is it just rumors that PP was there? I am sure that sports radio talk show host in Alabama will say that at least one player from every team in the SEC was there

Most of this came from Cecil Hurt, beat writer for the T-town news. When Dairus was questioned by his coaches he gave them names of other players from other schools who were there. Cecil also said that UA had 3 meetings about agents this year, and one just weeks ago. NCAA was tipped by other agents, and or players about the party. Some of the players who were there took pic and put them on F-book.Saban is in meltdown mode and is talking about a NFL ban at UA if the NFL doesn't do something with whese agents. This has a long way to go before we see the end
