8 wins in a 12 win season? absolutely. Take a look at our history.... ESPN didn't rank us #17 in historical football prestige for nothing...

8/12 is 66.6% of the games.
1975-1992: Don James was 72.4%
1993-1998: Jim Lambright was 63.6% (close...but that's why he was fired...)
1999-2002: Rick Neuheisel was 67.3%

the post-Neuheisel era shouldn't define this program... our expectations shouldn't change. We fired Lambright for a 6-6 season, or .500.

you think you can get back to that level (or higher) with the rise of some of the other Pac 10 schools? how's recruiting doing under Sark?

Check the recruiting rankings... we're top 20 right now despite an 0-12 season. Sark is a very good recruiter and motivated... unlike Losingham.

It will be more difficult with the rise of Cal and Oregon. But Oregon is likely a flash in the pan. Outside of their facilities and uniforms, UW should be able to jump over them if we get the ball rolling. Eugene is no Seattle and Oregon is no UW. With Bellotti stepping down, we'll see what they do..

Cal is a different story. Great school. Great location. Great coach. I hope Tedford jumps to the NFL and they return to being Cal.

The Pac 10 used to be SC and UW and whoeever won that game went to the Rose Bowl. That may not return due to parity and the schollie limits, but there is no reason (with competent coaching and recruiting) that UW doesn't return to being in the Top 4 of the conference. On the other hand, there is absolutely no reason why we should be in the bottom 4 - EVER.

1) Tuitama graduated. Big loss for them.
2) They have Stoopid as their coach.

I agree with this statement. UW was a force in the 1980s while we were struggling.

Do you really believe Stoops is a good coach? He was on the hot seat just 2 years ago... He got them to a minor bowl and got a ridiculous contract extension.

Bad coaching can easily affect a program despite having talent. Remember when SC had a ton of talent and didn't do so well because of incompetent coaching (Paul Hackett comes to mind)?

Well, you've said some things I'm kinda iffy about, but I definitely agree with that. The only other team that could get in there would be Zona St.

However, I'm still gonna say that the Pac-10 is extremely top heavy and weak overall.

Don't think so.

They lost their QB, who was rather good. They also have a horrible head coach in place. It's at home.

There is no reason why we can't complete or beat them... which was the point of the original post...

In the recent past we have seen what hurricanes get do to a football team at the beginning of a season. Some have looked better playing LSU. Now something we haven't thought of what about a massive eartquake at the start of LSU's season. Saw an article in Omaha yesteday about NW expecting a massive earth quake. If so Washington could be improved.

UW will be considered a success this season to win 4 games. They will not beat ND, UCLA, Stanford. And they certainly won't beat any of the ones you called major upsets. You don't see any reason you can't win one of those? Really?

Wow. So in the SEC, all fans have great respect and admiration for all conference coaches regardless of what they do, what they say, or how they present themselves on the sidelines? No nicknames whatsoever?

oh no, they use the same type of lame nicknames for SEC coaches and teams,
examples are "Ole Piss".....CUM (Urban Meyer)...."Lame Kiffin"...."Gumps"...etc.

I just think you are a ranter if you use any of those.

Why would I? You don't think there is any way we could pull an upset over Oregon State or Cal, which was included on that list? Our last win was, sadly, against Cal (37-23)... which no one thought would be done. This is college football... upsets do happen...
