I don't think as well. Scott probably had better straight line speed, but what makes Ridley so good is his ability to cutback and his vision to see a hole.
I never saw that from Chuck.

Impossible to properly do, but a small statistical comparison:
Chuck in 2008 through 5 games:
83 carries, 570 yards, 6.86 YPC, 6 TDs
But his competition: Appy State, North Texas, Auburn, Mississippi State, Florida (one of his worst games of the year)
Unfortunately he wore down as the season went on.
Ridley through 5 games:
97 carries, 557 yards, 5.7 ypc, 4 TDs
But against better competition: UNC, Vandy, MSU (improved), WVU, Tennessee
I think Ridley is more fit than Chuck, so I don't think he'll wear down like Chuck did, but we need another back to step up and take some of his load off.
eta: But I think they are different stylistically. Scott is the classic, plow-ahead bruiser.
Ridley is more one-cut get upfield.

I wish there was a way to account for the Quinn Johnson factor.
Stampley couldn't block my grandmother.

I felt like Scott lost a little bit of his speed the last year. He seemed to come out the backfield much slower and couldn't build up enough speed shed tacklers. Maybe he was fighting injuries or something.
The two times I thought he looked like he did in 2008 and prior were on that last Georgia run when he had an extra burst of speed after that defender didn't get him and his last run against Bama when he got injured.

Agree and disagree.
Stampley could easily block your grandmother. But he does miss... a lot.
The Johnson and Johnson factor really propelled two years of good run games.

Touche'
Johnson-Johnson may be the most underrated tandem in LSU history. People love to talk about Flynn, Hester, Doucet, etc., but they were the driving force behind that 2007 offense.

both would do much better if we had a passing game...for more than 10 yrds.

He's already tweeted that it's the worst offense in college football history.
I think he may be forgetting some of the service academy teams during the WWI, but...

Ridley's got it going on! Sees field extremely well, is shifty, & can make the Free Safety miss when that position cheats up to plug a hole. Scott could not make the FS miss for the most part.

yes sometimes this was true....but by the 4th 1/4 the safety was like dam here he comes again...I hope someone else gets him this time...he punished people & that helps toward the end of the game....imo

Ridley has made this OL look better ,he would have made last years look better also,C Scott never ran to daylight,if he was our RB this year we would be talking about how bad the OL is.And Ridley weighs 235lbs according to Ridley and Moffitt at 225 he would be even better.
