The one guy I know who is a "Bama friend" IRL actually grew up in Baton Rouge, went to jr high and high school here, graduated from LSU. But, oh by the way, he spent maybe his first 7 or 8 years in Alabama. So he's a "huge diehard Alabama fan". And he does what you described.
Meanwhile, I have another friend who was way down the depth chart for a brief stint under Tubberville at Auburn (very brief), grew up in Alabama his whole life, and can talk about LSU without feeling the need to bring up Cam Newton and 2010.

Same here, my best friend is an Auburn fan and we have great conversations about football all the time.
My Bama "friends" start every conversation with "Les Miles is an idiot", "you didn't cross the fifty yard line", and "Nick Saban rules".

No shite as I was leaving work I encountered a Bama fan. Ignorant frick was talking shite about when the last time lsu beat them. Someone said "last year". He said "bullshite, lsu did not beat us!". They truly believe this shite. I get mad fit a second then I realize they aren't trolling. They're serious. And the fact that they are so retardedly delusional, I lose anger and laugh at them.

I don't have a ton of experience with gumps and know several that are decent, tax paying Americans.
That said, I can't stand the fan base as a whole. I grew up near a lot of Nebraska fans in the 1990s and hated hearing about that team. Gumps are far, far worse. They honestly remind me of uneducated, brainwashed Muslims in the poorest Arab countries rioting in the streets, holding up posters of whomever they are worshipping. A totally different view. Someone needs to worshipped while some other entity must be destroyed.
Any recent encounters I've had I ask if they went to school there. 7/8 or so I've given this line to say no. At that point I laugh and say you must be very proud of your school.

Don't forget how they act when they BEAT you they are obnoxious ie, teabagger incident in N.O. , and when you beat them equally obnoxious, getting autographs and pictures made with the guy who poisioned the trees at Auburn at NC Game. And when Auburn beat them by one point 27-26 their blood is still boiling. When we won in November they won the game in every way but the actualy score, more yardage, more completed passes, missed field goals. If not for that hey we WON. PATHETIC BUNCH. I live & work among them daily in BHAM.
